Very good Ontario pale ale. Flavourful without being heavy. Many sub flavours with a light smokiness.

This tasting was opened as my Day 4 beer in my Beer Advent Calendar for 2015. This is the second year my wife has made me one of these and it is a great treat to get to open a beer every day after work.
This a find American Blonde Ale with a fine finish. This is a go to beer for me when I go out and I'm look for something to have out with the boys. It really needs to be cold to enjoy. rq

Slightly hazy golden color with a good amount of activity. Slightly creamy white 1 finger, lasting around 5 to 10 minutes, with some very good legs.

Aromas of butterscotch and sweet grains. Flavors of roasted malts, lemon, caramel, floral and noble spices. Balanced sweetness and salivating sharpness. Nice bread feel with a hint of grass.

Smooth oily almost full body with prickly carbonation. Light finish that lingers a little, ending with bready feel of burnt caramel, and roasted malty sweetness.

Overall a very good quality craft. Delicious mix of flavors that are super well balanced and quite complex. A little faint but super fresh and sharp.

Purchased at the LCBO for just under $3.00 for the 473mll can. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass.

A- Very nice unfiltered pale ale. Not much head as expected but nice film

S- Excellent. The grapefruit and coriander hits you right away

T- Excellent! Enjoyed this mildly hoppy IPA. Very good try

M- Pretty good. Nice and dry without much hop aftertaste

O- Very good. Enjoyed this one enough to put on the regular list

Food Pairing

This nice little IPA paired well with... Lemon Chicken. The lemon citrus and grapefruit really accentuates the chicken. Give it a try!

Enjoy

Bucky had been wanting to try another of Lake of Bays brews for quite some time, and finally found some single cans of their Crosswind Pale Ale in his local liquor store. Crosswind came in a 473 ml can with the 'Best Before' date blurred beyond distinction. The beer was 5.0% alcohol by volume.

Crosswind poured an attractive clear deep gold, which became deeper still when backlit. Plenty of fast rising bubbles were visible. Pouring produced about 1/2" of frothy white head, which faded to a thin collar of foam and patchy film within two minutes. For a beer that didn't retain much foam, Crosswind left a surprising amount of lacing and some spotting down the glass.

Crosswind's aroma was a combination of sweet, light malts, with notes of grapefruit and pine. Its taste followed the aroma exactly, beginning with a caramel sweetness which gave way to light notes of grapefruit and pine, and finishing with a mild bitterness which lingered briefly as an aftertaste. Very refreshing...just a touch of the grapefruit and pine without too much bitterness. There is a nice balance to the flavours here. Crosswind had a medium level of carbonation, was relatively light bodied, with a crisp, clean mouthfeel.

Overall, I was happy I stumbled across these single cans and gave Crosswind a try. A solid, easy drinking pale ale that does indeed deliver "surprising depth for its lightness". Crosswind Pale Ale sells for $2.65 per 473 ml can...not cheap, but a 'not unreasonable' price.

Pours a clean yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, mellow citrus like hops. In the taste, dryer citrus hops and a nice malt balance. A small bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with and dry maltiness in the aftertaste. Balanced, nice hops, and not water, not too shabby!

Another excellent beer from Lake of Bays. This brewery has done some excellent work mixing various elements with taste and smell, whilst breaking the narrative on the style, in a good way.

From a "tall can" (could not find a bottle)

Look(4.25): Golden, with hints of orange and amber. Very attractive in a traditional UK style pint glass.
Smell(3.25): Relatively traditional for the style, Mainly hops with hints of other attractive elements.
Taste(4): First thing that came was hops, finishing with malts and a mixture of bitter and sweet
Feel(4): Heavy, slightly creamy, slightly flat. All the elements of this beer complement each other
Overall(4): Easily one of the best beers I've tried this year. Would like to see a little more carbonation in the beer, but it doesn't ruin the experience. Went great with smoked ribs. Would recommend to a friend.

473ml can poured into a mug. ABV 5%.

A - Poured a clear deep gold with a 2cm frothy white head. Head reduced to a ring and some surface bubbles. Some lacing.

S - Mild caramel, some honey, some citrus, herbal, hint of spice.

T - Light honey like sweetness, grain notes, hint of citrus, hint of spice, medium-mild herbal bitter finish. Barely any aftertaste.

M - Medium-light carbonation, medium body, dry & clean finish.

O - I like this one. Easy to drink. Good pale ale. (Judging by other reviews, I'm in the minority that appreciate this beer.) It has recently become a staple in my fridge.

Notes: I've also had the 5L mini keg. Tastes pretty much the same but the carbonation is much lower and the mouthfeel a tad creamier as a result making it more reminiscent of some British pale ales I've had.
