This one kept getting better as I drank it. This is my favorite of the night. I was amazed that a microbrewed beer could cascade like a draft Guiness. The appearance was beautiful and black with a tan head just like you would expect. Wonderful mix of malt and coffee in the nose. The aroma stayed right to the bottom of the glass. Perhaps the only fault(if it is a fault), is the body and mouthfeel were a bit on the thin side considering the weight of flavor this beer presents. This stout was creamy and pleasantly bitter . A chunk of vanilla ice cream would be right at home here for an adult float.
Hints of mocha and a clinging head made this beer a pleasure to drink and made me wish it were available in bottle. PS: I did find their Imperial Stout in bottle form for take home...haven't tried it yet.

Sampled at the 2003 Mondial de la Biere, Montreal:

Black pour with a medium creamy, tan head. The nose was big on coffee & espresso bean. The mouthfeel, although light & creamy, was too weak. I would almost refer to the body as "watery". Still, the prodominant coffee notes were pleasant and the mild finish was enjoyable.

On-tap at Saint-Bock. Dark with little head, understated soft carbonation. Yes coffee, but cold coffee, coffee grinds, chemical aroma, and not too drinkable. Light bitterness, water mouthfeel and body. This brewery makes a lot of beers, there is a hit-and-miss element, the latter for this try.

Sampled at Vices et Versa

Appearance: Pitch black, no surprise here, with a big, thick, almost gooey head.

Smell: Dissapointing. Like the cheap watery coffee you get in the waiting room of a garage.

Taste: Thank God, it tastes better than it smells! Good roasted grain, I was expecting bitterness (the bad, stale coffee kind) but instead I got the light bittersweetness you get from 70-80% cocoa dark chocolate. Real easy to drink, just too bad about the smell.

Had this beer at the brewpub while on vacation in Quebec City. The stout has a tanned head, good retention and lacing. Almost black in color.

Smells of roasted malts, light blended coffee and some earthiness.

I found this beer to be a little thin for my likening. Mostly roasted malts and light coffee on the palate, faint hop bitterness and sweetness.
