You can definatley taste the ''mures''. I love thsi brewery and love to discover the taste they are up to.

The color is suprisingly red and it give this beer a special attraction. This one could become one of my favorites beer for sure.

: ) Barbarie --- continue your good work.

Just noticed:Bottled January 19 2010.

A-Slightly hazy copper. Loose foam of a head. Some strings of lacing.

S- Soft and slightly creamy yet zesty. Musty grainy malt. Strong alcohol. Berry play-doh.

T- Water with an almost chinotto like bitterness. I guess there's some blackberry in here but nothing special. Old woodiness but very possibly because of the relative age on the bottle.

M- Smooth. Low carbonation. Not very dry.

D- Okay. One bottle is enough.

Fun beer I guess but I don't want anymore.

Yellow color beer with some red in it, which would be from the blackberry. The beer is veiled. Nice creamy, thick head. The aroma is fruity (banana + blackberry). Lots of carbonation in the mouth... too much. The taste is blackberry with some malts (?). Light body beer. Refreshing and a summer beer.

All in all, a pretty average beer. Definitely not bad, but nothing too exciting. The beer pours with a thick foam. The color is amber and a little hazy. Not much of an aroma one way or the other. The taste is fine, but sort of thin. A little malty, and some ok citrus; quite innocuous. It's drinkable, but really pretty bland. Overall, thoroughly unremarkable.

500 ml bottle- A deep and slightly hazy amber, with a frothy, but short lived off white head. Faint nose of lemon, some fruity malts, maybe a bit of spices. Flavour profile is weak and watery sweet malts, some citrus, a bit of yeast? This is very, very bland. Watery and creamy finish. I don't know what to say.

500 ml bottle brought from Quebec.

Pours a medium amber color with minmal off-white head.

Aroma is mildly malty, would not know there was fruit if not told. On the palate the beer is mild, tasty, with just a hint of blackberry in the finish. Very much a mild ale taste profile, neither sweet nor hoppy, but quite drinkable and balanced, if unexciting. While I hate fruit beers that hit you over the head, maybe a bit more blackberry flavor would have made this beer more interesting.

Another La Barberie that I didn't like. Light bodied, almost unnoticeable aroma. Inoffensive flavour, but really very little wheat character. I could barely discern the blackberries (mures) either. Overall, relatively boring. I hate to think I'm overlooking subtleties here, but in my opinion this one just needs more of what it purports to have (i.e. more wheat and/or more fruit).

500 ml bottle. Bottles Feb/06.

A- Cloudy orange-amber with some rosy highlights. Smallish head. Good effervescence. Head reduces quicly.

S- Sour fruit. Pleasant summery feel to it.

T- Interesting little sour berry taste. Too watery. Interesting hops flash after the berry. Light watermelon finish. Not enough yesty or wheaty notes for a white. Also a bit too bitter for a white.

MF- Light and refreshing. Good match for hot weather.

D- Refreshing summer beer, but the flavour is a bit off, especially up front. A rare beer where I prefer the aftertaste to the initial taste.

Bottle: Poured a light pastel color beer with a big foamy head with great retention. Aroma is a weird mix between some acidic blackberry and a light witbeer base. Taste is a very weird mix between light blackberry with some acidic notes and a bland Belgian white with a bad yeasty finish. I don’t know if it is the yeast or what but I can’t get around those Barberie beers.

I think I am as confused about what this beer is trying to be as it is. A bit of jumbled mess....but we'll see what I have to say.
A brilliant, true orange appearence. No real aroma, no real flavour. Very refreshing with lager like mouthfeel. Perhaps this is too cold, I'll let it warm....No, that didn't seem to help much. A tad more aroma comes through but still nothing distinct or pleasent. Now I'll swig around what's left at the bottom of the bottle and make sure to pour in the guck - that should assist in some flavour! ... Sadly, no.
At this point we can conclude this is no fruit beer. Hell, this ain't even much of a witbier - or rather "white beer" as the bottle claims. No wheat notes, no fruit notes.
What this beer does have to its favour (on a lenient marking scheme) is some freshment. This makes as a decent lager-esque drink due to some lies in the backbone and a clean, lingering mouthfeel. Bah! Overall not enough character and not enough taste to really make it worth the look.

Pours a translucent cherry with a small and rapidly dissapearing head. Scantly medicincal smell with a hint of citrus. I keep waiting for the fruit to appear in the taste and it eventually, and very meakly, shows itself for a fleeeting instant, then gone. Weak malt, weak hopping. Slightly tangy and bitter. Thin body. One is enough for me.
