Style: Belgian Saison

Alcohol by volume (ABV): not listed

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Flora is the wine barrel-aged version of Florence, our grandfather's sister, as well as the name of our wheat farmstead ale. In her honor, we fill French oak wine barrels with Florence and allow the beer to mature in the presence of our resident microflora. After extended aging, a beautifully complex beer emerges; Florence becomes Flora.

On occasion, though, some portion of Flora exceeds even our highest expectations; Flora Cuvée represents that singular moment, a true zenith of Flora.

750ml bottle poured into a Hill Farmstead taster.

A~ extremely clear glowing gold with hardly any head and no lacing at all.

S~ straight wheat wine barrel lemony funk! a little lime as well followed by peppery saison like yeast.

T~ less intense than the nose but its all there! nice tartness and awesome oranges on the back end that really linger.

M~ just enough carb, smooth and delicate.

O~ extremely good and a solid 4.5 but not really in the same vein as some of the other "high end" HF bottles (Ann, Art, etc...) pretty much slightly funkier and tarter than Flora b5 which is awesome but i expected a bit more. who knows maybe it'll get that funk! then this would really be top notch! Plum is still the best variant IMO though.

Sheer perfection. The only HF beer than touch B2 Ann. Carbonation is perfect and the wine really distinguishes itself upfront before the wheat comes through. Will be looking to obtain more.

I agree w Skrip on this one. Expectations were really high given my love of Ann, Art, and Flora (B5 esp). This was a fantastic saison and brought a nice pleasant and soft oaky funk. Endlessly drinkable w a mild approachable yet desirable mellow tartness but did not carry the wine barrel stick of Flora B5. Struck me more as a funkier B6. I can not imagine anyone being anything but thrilled with this beer. May just depend on your preferred level of wine presence developed through the ba time - and the distinction likely drives your place on the 4.5-5 range.

First, woot woot! Flora Cuvée pours a light golden color with fine white lacing and a head that dissipates quickly. Nose is pineapple, beatification, oaky buttery chardonnay notes and the taste follows with light vinous body and subtle tartness dominated by juicy fruits. Surprisingly this is considerably different tasting than any Flora b1-5 I’ve come across. The barrel notes and strong pineapple juiciness make it unique and very enjoyable. If you’re a fan of Florence or Flora you will more than likely love Flora Cuvée

750 mL bottle. Clear golden body. Nice white head. Strong oak and funkiness in the nose. White wine. Grassy aroma, too. Taste is sweet white wine up front. Wheat behind it. Oak comes through in the back end. Light tartness and grassiness in the finish. Medium body. White wine always seems to make these saisons taste heavier. Medium low carbonation. It's very similar to Flora. Less tart and some more funky oak presence.

Bottle purchased for onsite consumption at Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro Bend, VT. Bottled in 2012, originally released in 2013.

This one pours a light yellow color, with a big fluffy head, and lots of lacing.

This one smells like peach, dried apricot, vanilla, lemon zest, toasted oak, grassiness, and funky cheese.

This is unbelievably exceptional. It's peachy/funky/creamy/oaky heaven, with a surprisingly earthy vanilla character from the barrel, and lots of sweet and rustic white wine character. It's also a little bit cheesy and funky, and there's a bit of orange marmalade as well. I can't get over how good this is, honestly.

This is light bodied, and so soft and delicate, with a very high level of drinkability. I wish this was easier to get, as I could imagine having this every day and not getting sick of it.

HIll Farmstead continues to dominate the American-made farmhouse ale game. This is the style as it's mind-boggingly best.

Pours a beautiful straw gold with a pure white head that leaves nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is immensely complex and funky! Beautiful barnyard notes of leather, lemon grass, hay, and distinctly Hill Farmstead yeast! Notes of stone fruit and delicate citrus. There are also buttery and oaky wine notes. The complexity is overwhelming, and I'm afraid I don't have the vocabulary to describe it well enough, but this is the perfect aroma for a farmhouse ale.

The flavor follows the the nose incredibly well, with slightly tart lemon grass, hay, leather, oak, and delicate stone fruit and citrus. Wondrous complexity, with amazing tartness, oak character, and a mysteriously wonderful buttery flavor.

Goes down as smooth as any beer I've ever had! Medium body with very light carbonation/small bubbles. Dry and lightly tart on the finish.

Just superb! The best farmhouse ale I've had that hasn't been aged on fruit!
