Notes:
Flora is the wine barrel aged version of Florence (1915-1967), our grandfather's sister as well as the name of our wheat farmhouse ale. Selected barrels were aged on a variety of hand-picked organic plums from Elmore Roots Nursery in Wolcott, Vt., for several months. The result is a vibrant, refined expression of both harvest and craft.

The tone of plum flesh, a juicy orange which I probably hallucinate people hues into. Bright fruit nose, depths of skins with that hazy tannin, grain and tartness. Flavor falls a bit short though, lacking depth it the kind of transformation I expected as it warmed. A great beer but with the cost of attaining ... And I might say the tilquin prunes de namur is superior.

2nd batch, bottled on 1-12-2016
L: Fairly vigorous pour yields a one inch head that disappears to a tiny ring within a minute or two.
S: Citrus, oak, plum, and as it warms some kind of berry comes out.
T: Plum, tart, so nice. As it warms a bit of grapefruit.
F: Full mouthfeel coats the mouth very nicely.
O: Great job on this one. Probably my favorite in the Flora series. One drawback is the price.

This beer was stellar, the first Flora variant I've had to surpass the original. Up there among the best of the HF saisons.

2018 release.
A: Pours a very light pale, hazy, kind of berliner-like, with a cap of bright white head which quickly fizzles out to a sharp ring. Nicely effervescent. Minimal retention and no lacing.
S: Moderate sour plum and grainy wheat, hefty amount of barnyard funk and a hint of spice.
T: Rich juicy plum and wheat, light earthy funk, finishing with a crisp medium-light tartness on a fairly lengthy finish.
M: Medium-high, somewhat sharp carbonation. Light bodied.
O: Tasty, refreshing, drinkable, and exceptionally well balanced. The sourness is restrained and the fruit is delicious.
