375ml bottle poured into a Hill Farmstead fest. glass.

A~ light glowing yellow with a nice head and a little lacing.

S~ smells like a regular HF offering. lemon, lime, apple skins and slight earthy tea followed by a little brett funk.

T~ like watered down Arthur... otherwise pretty much follows the nose but no green tea at all! lingering apple on the back end.

M~ thin but smooth with nice carb. very drinkable.

O~ not too impressed by this series, they sound amazing but fall way short. definitely still worth a shot but please don't go crazy for them. i'm mostly mad there was no green tea! haha i love beers with green tea!

Bought this on pure reputation of HF and to be honest I didn't think I'd like it and bought it anyway. Green tea? Apples? Yuk! Then I opened it and let it out. Oh my, Wow! All those "yuks" worked together in one of the most interesting and tasty beers I've ever had. All kinds of things going on in my mouth, all good! I am so glad my wife was along and I could by two for her and two for me. Another good reason to be married.

375 mL bottle. Hazy pale yellow. Big white head and nice collar. Bright and floral up front. I think I smell the green tea behind it. Doughy maltiness. Taste is herbal and lemony. Lightly tart. Grainy. Sweetness lingers. Lemony acidic finish. Light body. Well carbonated. Excellent without being remarkably different.

Hazy yellow gold, nice white head, half finger. Awesome classic hf minerals, floral hops and light fruity Samson yeast. Taste is nice and tart. All the good stuff is there with some nice citrus juice and rind. Getting a little earthy grèn tea when i look for it. Lots of carbonation but fairly smooth. Bottle gushed a bit. Very nice. Burly man hugs for hoppypocket, cheers man!

Consumed 11/6/16

A: Milky gold with some dark gold and straw tones - hazy - pours with lots of carbonation, fades to a small cap, small collar, leaves streaks of lacing

S: A whole lot of farmhouse - earthy with some hay and spice - pepper - some citrus, grapefruit peel - light fruits, apple, green apple, white grape - not much green tea, if any, but I'm not really complaining - light sweetness - chewy oak

T: Light but very complex - nicely tart but not really sour - a sharp tartness - some nice saison flavors, saison yeast - wheat and pale malts - spice with some pepper - floral citrus and grapefruit zest - tart green apples, light fruits - some light sweetness - nice oak, woody

M: Medium body, medium carbonation, smooth but also a crisp, tart finish

O: Nice job Walt

Hill Farmstead makes consistently stellar saisons, and Leaves of Grass is no exception. It's not remarkably epic, but it's nicely complex and well-rounded.

Bottle from the brewery.

Nice cloudy beer, golden yellow, with a small white head that held at a ringlet. Nice saison aroma, lemongrass and citrus, mild funk, fresh apple comes out more as the beer breathes and comes up in temp. Crisp taste, slightly tangy, citrusy hops...there's some fresh cidery apple here as well, which normally is more of an off-flavor in beer, but here it really makes sense. The apple lingers in the aftertaste. Nothing really tea-y is coming out to me. Light and fresh mouthfeel, light-medium body. This tasted good fridge-cold and at room temperature. Very nice overall.

Can't say the additions really shine through. I don't get much of the vegetal notes of green tea, nor it's floral or umami aspects. The apple water - granny smith? - comes through in the finish. It's less soft and more bretty than expected. A very good beer but doesn't evoke the green tea and apple notes I was hoping for.
