A hoppy red ale brewed with Classic American yeast and hops. Hygge is a danish word which is best describe as the feeling of a warm and inviting atmosphere in which to enjoy the good things in life...

Pronounced Hooga. This was on tap at The Reservoir, Waterbury, VT. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a dark red color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Light lacing stuck around the glass nicely. The smell started off with some sweet roasted nuts blending into some citrus and piney hops. Caramel and toffee malts - delicate yet there. Very well balanced. The taste was mainly sweet with a nice rounded corners of bready malts. Smooth lingering sweet and roasted nuts. Light smooth caramel malts in the aftertaste. Semi-dry nutty finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light. Smooth malts lay down on my tongue nicely. Overall, I say this was a really good Amber ale that I would have again.

Poured from the growler into stemmed HF glass.
Pours a nice garnet color with minimal bubbly head.
Aromas are a nice mix of maltiness and hoppiness, toffee notes.
Flavors are nice as well. Good malt body and the substantial hops are welcome.
Mouthfeel was excellent,
Overall, this style doesn't wow too many people but this is well made and very tasty.

750ml growler poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass. Enjoyed on 12.22.2016, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a dark, deep burgundy color, dark amber and red hues, nice opacity with a bone colored head, about two fingers tall with good retention and plenty of lace. The aroma is decent, piney hops, citrus peel, grassy and weedy, sharp and bitter with a big caramel and amber malt backbone, not too sweet, not overly rich either with some of the Hill Farmstead signature mineral water character. The flavors are very much like the nose, very bitter pine and resinous hop flavor, some citrus peel, earthy and grassy with a hearty amber and caramel malt bill, a bit doughy and a bit heavy, the hops don't really lighten this beer up any. The mouthfeel is great, coating, thick yet lively medium body, gentle but active carbonation with a very creamy and smooth finish that has a nice lingering dry sensation.
Verdict: A solid Hoppy Red/Amber ale, but a bit heavy and lacking complexity from the hops. When I think about beers like Nugget Nectar or Surly Furious, there is so much more going on, that this seems a bit boring and bland. A good beer, but nothing remarkable.

Poured from a fresh growler into the modified tulip glass.
A - Beautiful carbonation, set in a copper colored backdrop. Wonderful loose knit cap of off white.
S - Light bread notes, floral hop nose, very nice.
T - Follows the nose, nice grains, delightful malt base, just the right amount of bitterness, and a hint of smokiness.
F - Soft on the palate, medium in body, so well balanced.
O - I really enjoy this offering. A superbly drinkable beer.
