750ml growler poured into a Hill Farmstead taster.

A~ glowing yellow with a small head and a little lacing.

S~ like a citrus milkshake... lemon, orange, grapefruit with a little lacto, dank grass and earthyness.

T~ less like a milkshake here... thankfully! haha but still like a creamsicle. lots of awesome citrus flood the pallet followed by earthy hops and bitter orange zest.

M~ little creamy, nice carb and refreshing!

O~ so... i guess i like South African hops! haha definitely different and my favorite of this little series! South African hops for the win!

750 mL growler. Hazy pale orange. Big white head. Smells of floral and perfumy. Citrus. Tastes just a bit resiny, but more floral and perfumy again. Cracker malt and light bitterness. Finish has a bit of citrus and tropical sweetness. Medium body. Nice hop flavor profile.

On tap at Blackback Pub poured into their fluted snifter. 12 oz. pour.

Hazy straw, creamy just off-white head which is slow to settle. Lacing clings to the glass.

Earthy and spiciness to the persistent hop aroma. Lemon zest. Interesting and different.

Unique hop flavor. Floral, earthy, bit of rye like spiciness. Hint of citrus and light malt presence.

Moderate carbonation, lighter side of medium body.

Overall a very tasty brew. Easy going and unique hop flavor profile. Change of pace brew.

hazed golden straw, bright white head leaves nice lacing all down the glass. aroma is relatively mild, but very pleasant. notes of bright orange, grapefruit, lemon, some grassy floral notes and a touch of bitterness. crackery malt is subtle but provides some nice balance. incredibly crisp and drinkable, light bodied with that HF signature creamyness - the masters of the pale ale.

750ml growler, freshly filled, poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass. Enjoyed on 12.24.2016, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a super hazy and turbid golden peach color, orange hues with a foamy finger of white head, good retention and lace. The aroma is pleasant, citrus peel and some tropical pineapple and mango, grassy hops take over with pale grain and mineral water lingering. The flavors are quite bitter initially, sappy and piney, lots of green hop, hop spice, grassy and earthy hop profile, some softer fruit flavors emerge as the bitterness subsides once it warms up with sweet grains helping to support the hops. The mouthfeel is good, coating and creamy with a gentle medium body, lively carbonation at the finish that is nicely dry.

Verdict: A very good pale ale from Hill Farmstead, the South African hops are expressive and aromatic, though extremely bitter on the tongue. For a pale ale, it just felt heavy and bigger than the 5.00% abv it's quoted at. Definitely a good beer, but not one I'd write home about considering the exceptional quality of other beer from Hill Farmstead.
