Flora is the wine barrel-aged version of Florence, our grandfather's sister as well as the name of our Farmstead wheat ale. We selected two barrels of Flora and aged it atop fresh raspberries from Fisher Brothers Farm in Shelburne, Vt.

These Floras really have that “Wow!” Factor sometimes. This raspberry variant is absolutely one of those times. Pours with a great head, smells great. Just a great, great beer.

Bottled on Sept 27, 2019, on label. Poured from 375ml brown bottle into a Chimay chalice.
A: Vibrant raspberry pink hue with quickly dissipating off-white head with no lacing and some floaties.
S: Aroma is sweaty with a touch of lemon and raspberry.
T: Flavor is interesting combination of fruity berry sweetness in the early palate with pale maltiness and wheat mid-palate followed by lemon tartness in the finish. Light phenol And tannin in the finish and aftertaste, balanced by the sweetness without clashing. Acidity is low.
M: Crisp and lively with moderate-high carbonation and light body made lighter with the acidity and tartness in the finish.
O: A very enjoyable fruited spontaneously fermented beer with a superb balance of sweetness and tartness. I wouldn’t be surprised if the blackberry Flora isn’t even better with more tannins/polyphenols.

375 mL bottle. Bright red with a small white head. Smells of raspberry, a little white wine. Tastes of pleasantly tart raspberry. Never too strong. White wine. Wine even lends some sweetness. A little wheat. Light body. Simple and very nice. Been a while since I've had one of these fruited Floras, but I think this is one of the better integrations of the fruits from the series.

This one pours a golden and vibrant reddish color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
Like most wild ales with raspberry in them, this doesn't exactly exhibit a ton of complexity. The raspberry is unsurprisingly expressed well on the nose, with a touch of funk. It's mostly raspberry, though.
Even at about a year old, there's still loads of fresh, sticky, and lightly acidic raspberry here. The Flora base is such a tremendous beer, it's always a shame to cover that up. There's some lemon acidity and a touch of funky bitterness, but it's 90% berry goodness.
This is light bodied, super refreshing, with an only slightly lingering bit of acidity on the back end here.
I still haven't come across a Flora fruited variant that's better than the base Flora, but they're usually at least fun to try.

Wow.
This American wild exhibits such a pristine expression of raspberry that it damn near or even exceeds lambic-style constructs.
The appearance is glowing and shimmeringly clear vibrant red, but only with a short, moderate collar that is bright white.
Feel is crisp and moderate of body with a surprising balance to the tartness.
