Notes: Blended in the winter of 2017 and packaged in early 2018, this batch consists of several unique and independent threads—including Anna; an experimental buckwheat Farmstead® ale that would lead towards Samuel; Juicy; and Sankt Hans—all of which weave together to form a beautiful sensory image greater than the sum of its parts.

poured into a pair of HF wine stem bulb glasses

Appearance: translucent yellowish orange bodied beer. Bone white head approximately 1 finger thick and quickly dissipating down to nothing.

Smell: Big white wine and oak aromas.

Taste: honey sweetness. vinous and sharp white wine without tasting boozy. rustic oak barrel notes. hints of spice and fruits. Juicy and tangy flavors in the finish.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied saison with just the right amount of carbonation. lightly dry finish.

Overall: Another incredible CD series blend. I taste the white wine notes from juicy very distinctly as well as that hoppy wild ale character of juicy. Anna's honey is also rather distinct in the blended saisons flavor profile. As always, Mr Hill outdoes himself and continues to prove his blending abilities are very unique and masterfully done.

750 mL bottle. Clear golden. Smells of lots of white wine, mango fruitiness, oak, and light acidity. Tastes of oak, tropical fruits, white wine, light wheat and a bit of toasty malt flavor. Oaky finish with a long winey back end. Medium body. Very flavorful. Nice.

Poured into a tulip glass. A clear golden color with a modest white head that lingered. I was surprised on the pour with a few small white floaties that quickly settled on the bottom of the glass. The aroma was pungent for a Saison, with bright citrus, hay, dough, musty oak, and lavender. Mildly tart on entry, it opened up to show oranges, doughy bread, floral notes, white grapes, and oak. Medium bodied with a lemon-lime tartness on the finish. Outstanding.

750ml bottle, bottled on 01.26.18, poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass. Enjoyed on 11.09.19, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a nice golden copper color, amber hues with a foamy white head, modest retention and spotted lacing. The aroma is nice and inviting, oak and funk jump forward with citrus peel, soft pale dough, white grape and a floral bouquet with some underlying fruitiness and mineral water. The flavors are very good, tart citrus and white grape, smooth oak, lemon and orange peel with a floral character that really shines as it warms up with a fruity funk, mineral water and a nice base of crusty cereal grains. The mouthfeel is great, coating and smooth with a medium body that has a nice liveliness that never comes close to feeling abrasive and finishes with a delicate tart kiss with lingering dryness.

Verdict: A very nice barrel aged saison from Hill Farmstead. This blend is well balanced, bright, delicate and offers a nice array of complex flavors.

Gold; barrel + flowers; hay, clean appley tartness, some lagery grain, fizzy citrus, tropical, more gentle funk; round and easy.

So integrated. Matches Firestone Walker for mastery of blending. HF just do this kind of thing so well. Superior.

This one pours a slightly hazy light orange color, with a small fluffy head, and lots of lacing.

This one smells like that classic citrusy HF funk, with some minerality, lemon rind, sweet tarts, sour candy, and grassy funk.

This is unsurprisingly quite delicious. It's classic HF all the way, with that grassy and citrusy funk that is so classically charcteristic of the Farmstead ales. There's some slight mineral character, too, with lemon and stone fruit and just tons of citrus, as alluded to above.

This is light bodied and really drinkable, with a soft and super approachable feel to it.

HF has been basically on fire lately with this series - they almost can't miss at this point.

Split with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice clear honey hue with a thin white head that fades to leave light lacing and thin wisps.

S - Big aromas of bright funk, lemon zest, funk, little oak. Citrus and funk forward.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of bright funk, citrus and honey. Lingering sweet tart citrus. Loads of lingering funk and oak. Delicious.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, good crisp finish.

O - Overall this was a very good blended saison. Really balanced and bright.

Bottle purchased from the brewery, shared 4 days after initial release.

Pours golden, mostly clear with careful pour, thin big bubbled layer that settles into bubbly collar.

Aroma is bright, lemon zest, oaky barrel, some wine grape and honey.

The flavor is rich and layered. Lots going on here and continues to evolve as it gets closer to room temperature. First taste has bright citrus, meyer lemon zest, white wine grape and earthy oak barrel. As it warms a hint of sweetness and light fleshed tropical fruits pushes through the moderate tartness. A layer of grass, minor earthy funk and herbal spiciness is present as well.

Moderate carbonation and a crisp medium body.

Overall a beautiful blend of flavors, nothing out of place.

aromas bring bright fruity acidity, smooth graininess throughout, funky, lactic yogurt quality slight peppery spice, oaky notes hinting at some sweetness reminiscent of vanilla or honey. there is lemon, crisp green apple, underripe nectarines and kiw, white grape and wine qualities - very cohesive aroma, quite inviting.

palate follows with a bright blast of lemon zest and apple up front... this one has a snappy crispness to it! musty peach skin for days, apricot yogurt, funky kiwi quality, sweetness of honey and vanilla to match the solid amount of tartness this one brings. there is a hint of cherry candies, cherry skin, white grape must, white wine, oak, funky spice, hinting at pepper. beautiful complexity but the grainy quality throughout ties it together so well... there is an ineffable 'rightness' to this beer. wow!
