Ann is the wine barrel-fermented and aged version of Anna (1902-1993), our grandfather's sister as well as the name of our honey Farmstead® ale. The evolution of Anna into Ann is an indeterminate and metamorphic occurrence; only a single digit percentage of all wine barrel-aged Anna becomes what is unmistakably identifiable as Ann.
We selected a single barrel of Ann to age atop a variety of yellow raspberries from Fisher Brothers Farm (@fisherbrothersfarmvermont) fortuitously called "Anne."
The result: an auspicious evolution of Ann into Anne (Yellow Raspberry)—a unique, beautiful expression of serendipity, nature, and patience.

its just a beautiful looking brew, glowing straw-yellow gold color, thin and sudsy bright white ring of foam.
very pleasant aromatics are accentuated on palate. the one opens up with a luscious raspberry note that is fleshy and ripe but also brings tart seedy qualities. im not sure what anne raspberries actually taste like but this does have a very distinct and interesting raspberry quality that is rich and complex. however it in no way dominants the beer, but rather integrates seamlessly with flavors of mellow funk, hay, big white grape and vinous character oak sweeter honey and vanilla notes, cherry jolly rancher, sweet tart, crisp green apple, lemon, grassy, mellow spice and floral. mouthfeel is light bodied, somewhat low carbonation, very smooth and delicate.
overall its an absolute treat ... 5++ its amazing how the yellow raspberry quality in this beer is so clean and clear but it in no way come off as a fruit forward beer, immensely complex - just wonderful!

375ml bottle, dated 10.09.18, poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass. Enjoyed on 06.09.19, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a bright golden color, hazy with a soft finger of soapy white head that has modest retention and yields a few spots of lacing. The aroma is lovely, an excellent saison base, distinctively Ann, floral and bright with a light yeastiness, raw honey combines with oak and white wine that has a delightful funkiness and finishes with an excellent display of tart raspberries. The flavors echo the nose, wonderfully complex, more fruit forward than the nose, fresh and fleshy with a bright floral quality that highlights the wine barrel and soft oakiness of the beer. There is a delicate grainy backbone to the saison and with it comes the buggy funk and honey. The mouthfeel is great, coating medium body that is super smooth and tart with a crisp and dry finish.
Verdict: An incredible fruited saison from Hill Farmstead. It's distinctively Ann and brings so many of that beer's best qualities and layers in a very delicious element of the raspberries which are bright and fresh. Just a stunning beer.

The beer pours a Clear yellow with a small white head. It has medium carbonation. The beer smells of raspberry fruit roll up, peach, tangerine, honey, and light funk. It’s tart, with raspberry fruit roll up, wine, tangerine, and honey. The feel is very light, drinkable, with a dry finish. The raspberries are a great touch, and doesn’t dominate the beer. Ann is just slightly better because the honey comes through more.

fruity but not too much so, big fresh yellow raspberries, delicate but shining, white wine barrel, some honey, real nice smooth drinkable farmhouse ale, mild acidity, great balance

Waxed 375 bottle shared on premises on Wednesday of the brews release.
Poured carefully by HF staff into two globes, clear, little to no residue in the bottle. Golden with big off white bubbles forming a thin layer. Leaves a bit a lacing if you swirl the brew around the sides of the globe.
Aroma bursts with ripe yellow raspberry. Earthy and sweet, delicate but full, similar to the actual berry. Honey became noticeable as the brew warmed.
Smooth tartness provided by base brew and fresh fruit. Yellow raspberry adds subtle but not overlooked flavor. Doesn’t overpower or block the light honey sweetness, grassy/fresh hay and hint of sweet citrus and zest.
Smooth, just under moderate carbonation, medium body, not syrupy.
Overall an excellent brew. Yellow raspberry is perfect combination. Red raspberries could overpower and block the subtle layers of flavor in the underlying brew. Happy to have been able to enjoy this beer on a beautiful day at Hill Farmstead.
