Notes: This batch was blended in the fall of 2018 then packaged in November 2018, pulled together from several unique and independent threads—including young wine barrel-aged Arthur; puncheon-aged Anna; an experimental 14 month old buckwheat Farmstead® ale that would lead towards Samuel; and nearly 2-year-old wine barrel-aged Sankt Hans.

750ml bottle, Batch #26 stampd on the label, bottled 11.14.2018, poured into a stemless wine glass.

The beer pours a nice golden amber color, orange hues with a lightly cloudy complexion and a soapy finger of head that is easily resummoned with a swirl of the glass yet yields no lacing. The aroma is pleasant, nice funk, soft oak, crusty cereal grains, fairly floral with a nice honey and citrus peel character. The flavors are good, loads of oak and funk, tangy citrus, bright floral bouquet, white wine grape with a lovely grainy finish. The mouthfeel is nice, coating and lively medium body, a bit heavier with a lightly tart finish.

Verdict: A nice saison from Hill Farmstead. It's a bit muted and less expressive than many in their repertoire and many within this series of saisons, but it's still rewarding and still comes across as distinctively Hill Farmstead.

This one pours a golden and slightly cloudy yellow color, with a small head, and a good amount of lacing.

This smells like very tart lemon, grassiness, honey, wheat, white wine, and that classic HF citrusy funk.

This isn't quite that banger that #23 and #25 were, but it's still quite tasty. It's much more tart than the usual Farmstead ale, with tons of wine and lemon. There's a little teensy bit of honey sweetness, some oak, a bit of grassy and citrusy funk, and some kind of musty funk.

This is light bodied, with a lingering acidity, with a softer level of carbonation. It's pretty drinkable.

I was hoping for a little bit better, but that's splitting hairs - this is still really nice.

750 mL bottle. Bottom of the bottles, so it's hazy. Smells of bright white wine, stone fruit, orange creamsicle. Tastes of strong oak, white wine, bright orange, a little yogurt. Medium body. Low carbonation. This is spectacular.

Purchased in late July 2019 and just opened 9/15 to much enjoyment. I rarely get to HF and generally buy a few of everything I can get when I am a there. Really knew nothing about this and had no clue what I got until just now. Initial pour is lemony look with almost no head. Citrusy smell. I LOVE sours and I don’t know if this qualifies but for me it was wonderful. I bought two of these and will share the next one but am happy to drink this one myself. I absolutely would buy this again but it’s not likely to be available again for awhile. Glad I got two. Yay.

Thanks to rudzud
Fair fizzy foamy head, lower retention but fair lacing, mostly clear sight hazy tan orange color

Nose bright hops, grassy floral herbal and a little floral soapy like, potpourri flowery with light funk, sweet blond malt and tart fruity, light buttery oak, very complex and hard to pick out everything, like a symphony where all the instruments blend together harmoniously

Taste light tart lemony funk, sweet blond malt and little grainy note, then big flowery potpourri and raw flower tea, floral herbal yeast and hop phenols and fruity esters, light pome fruit and little stone fruit, light grassy hay funk,, buttery oak, lighter to medium bitterness, drier slight flemmy acidity finish with more hop bitterness which would normally clash but somehow these blend nicely

Mouth is medium bod, carb is a bit low but ok, little tart acidity

Overall pretty nice, a bunch of fun characters that I would normally think would clash but they will go well somehow, just leave it to Shaun to make something like this work somehow

Split with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice slightly hazy golden hue with a thin white head that fades to light wisps.

S - Big aromas of huge funky floral notes, almost potpourri like, light honey like aroma. Almost green apple like aroma and musty white grapes. Wow.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of slightly sweet wine notes. Loads of floral hops, tons of wine and really flavorful. Little bit of buttery oak from the barrels. Warm lightly tart vinous notes.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, really low body is a bit thin.

O - Overall this was a very solid and enjoyable saison. Lovely blend of beers. Really enjoyed the blend of beers here with Samuel and Sankt Hans shining through.

poured from a 750mL bottle into an oversized wine glass. pours a hazy burnt orange with soapy white head. smells of white wine, grape must, green apples and oak. taste leans more towards the green apple but it’s complimented by white wine and oak notes. it’s subtly tart. almost reminiscent of cider except it feels and finishes and mostly tastes like beer. feel is quite exceptional. lower carbonation and not overly dry. overall, this isn’t top of the line civil disobedience territory but it’s still very good. something i would be thrilled to drink on a regular basis.

Sparkling clear amber-gold--actually it's got an almost rosé look to it--with a one finger pearl white head that slowly settles to a mild film and creamy bright white collar that clings in Roman aqueduct lacing. By design? Tip of the hat to you, Hill ;)

First note in aroma is immediately apple, and in taste this translates easily to tart crabapple. Sharp oak then emerges, while its vibrant effervescence brings up an unexpected hint of salt water taffy. The exhale extends that unusual complexity further, with a seaweed sort of briney funk.

That was all in a matter of seconds throughout the first sip. Wow. Obviously, it's very unique to start off. That's the easy part.

An additional visit brings unexpected notes conjuring a clean and crisp, pleasingly simple lager. This is simultaneously combined with a splash of fresh squeezed lemon juice. There's also a unique, toasty graham and hay funk on the nose and in the palate, but it continues to bring me back to apple cider. A bit of a lighter chardonnay sort of character develops as I get further into my pour.
