Anna was Edward's older sister; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land once home to her and her 13 siblings. We selected two wine barrels of her namesake beer—aged for just over four months—and conditioned the beer further on a variety of blueberries from Fisher Brothers Farm in Shelburne, Vt. The result: an expression of blueberry flesh and the delicate nuances of the annual harvest.⁣

375 ml. bottle.
Bottle conditioned since Sept. 20, 2019.

Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch very light pink head over a reddish purple body with scant lacing.
Head dissipates down to a thin ring in minutes.

Wonderful nose of earthy blueberry with a tiny bit of funk.

Taste is an earthy blueberry tartness with blueberry tannins.
As it warms, the honey comes forward to ease these tannins a bit.

Nice feel for a headless beer.

Overall, a very nice Anna variant and glad to finally open this.
Cheers to Shaun!

This one pours a light purplish color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.

This smells like sour and prickly blueberry, white wine, and honey.

This isn't quite as good as Anna Plum, as the blueberry is a bit prickly and overwhelms the wonderful base beer a little bit more. Blueberry is hard to pull off, and Hill has seemingly done their best here. I just wish more Anna came through here.

This is light bodied, mostly clean but a little bit prickly, with a good drinkability to it.

This isn't quite Anna Plum level, but it's still worth a look.

Poured from the 375 ml bottle into the test glass.
A - Dark pink - persimmon color, Lively carbonation cant hide in this beautiful offering. A thin white cap leaves through a side door quickly. Thin ring clings to the glass during the experience.
S - Musty fruit skins, a kiss of sulfur, white pepper, Blueberry for sure, but ripe fresh blueberry, subtle and complex. With a rise in temperature the complex honey, mixed culture dance. There is a lovely Claret element that cant be beat.
T - Add to the aromatics, lovely honey, oak, Blueberry skin, an earthy ripeness blankets the palate.
M - Mediun in body, waves of tart, funk, sweet, repeat. Beautiful chalky dry finish.
O - A truely lovely experience, sharp flavors set on a delicate canvas, lovely fruit expression with the base beer a solid partner in the mix.

375 ml bottle into a tulip glass.

Pours a hazy magenta color with a finger of light pink head. Low retention and lacing. Settles into a thin ring. Beautiful color. Retention is about right for the style.

The aroma brings the barnyard funk up front, followed by some green apples, pears, lemon zest, and fresh blueberries. Much like the OG, there's a subtle honey character on the back.

The flavor starts off fruity and decently tart, bringing notes of lemon, apple cider vinegar, pear and green apples, followed by a wave of black cherries and blueberries. There's some honey, vanilla and subtle oak before a funky, grassy finish.

The feel is light-bodied with lively carbonation. Very crisp and dry. The tartness lingers for a bit after each sip.

Overall, this is yet another fantastic saison from Hill Farmstead. It's yeasty, funky, earthy and rustic yet fruity and refreshingly tart. I could drink this all year long.
