Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children. In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped. Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward.

85 IBU

Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

A - A beautiful light copper orange color, translucent but not transparent, a substantial head fades to spotty capping. Lacing is extensive and lovely.

S - Citrus in the form of grapefruit zest and pith. Slight spiciness underneath.

T - Powerful citrus up front, with bright flash of orange and grapefruit. Middle brings some pine and light malt elements, a subtle sweetness that fades quickly into a more bitter close. Nothing extreme, but definitely present.

M - Bright and carbonated, with mild drying in the close.

O - One of the best APAs I've had. This delivers a full blast of citrus notes and definite bitter elements while keeping it all together. Clean, precise and exacting, this is what you hope for in a craft beer. Exceptional.

I usually like an IPA or Imperial or double IPA, but this American Pale Ale is every bit as delicious and flavorful.

Amazing.

Poured into a growler in Greensboro at brewery. Poured into pint glass next day in Port Clyde, Maine.

Holy Crap, this is a great pale ale. I enjoyed it so much more than their experimental beers, Conduct of Life, Excursions. Double citra ,and Society and Solitude.

Pors a hazy orange with two fingers of bone white head.

Smells of dank and fruity hops.

Great malt backbone with dank and fruity hops dominating.

Don'underestimate the value of their fantastic water.

This would be my go to beer, but I live in Pittsburgh.
