Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children. In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped. Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward.

85 IBU

Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Just a wonderfully smooth and drinkable beer. 100% likeable and I would buy ''tis beer again and again. I just wish sometimes that HillF beers were much more available but HF has a plan and are sticking to it for the long term. I admire that self control and look forward to being in parts of Vermont that carry some of their beers on draft and, of course, my no where as many pilgrimages as I would like to HF.

5 oz. pour at THE Prohibition Pig

L: Hazy light gold. Good head with good retention, lots of sticky lace and a cap and ring.

S: Orangey, lemony citrus and light cracker malts.

T: Follows nose, finishes with a tiny bit of crisp bitterness.

F: Light bodied, strong carbonation. Crisp and very clean, light and refreshing.

O: Totally see how this is Hill Farmstead's go-to house ale. Could drink it and love it all day and every day.

Had it on tap at Beer Shop NYC.
Pours a wonderfully hazy golden orange color with a fingernail length head and good lace retention.
In the nose there are light citrusy and pine aromas.
In the mouth it is light and easy drinking with a gentle carbonation. Although many of the flavors are clean at first, as it warms, lots of light tropical fruit notes come out; grapefruit, mango, papaya and pear. The malt flavor is crackery and semi sweet. The pine is modest and not overwhelming.
Lovely example of an American pale ale that is easy to put away. I could have several of these.

Smells good and looks nice. Taste wise there is not much bitterness so. Smooth but there isn't much taste in general and it almost tastes flat. Overall average.
