Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children. In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped. Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward.

85 IBU

Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Poured into a tulip. A moderately hazy amber-orange color with a one-finger white head. Berries, earthy notes, pine, and tangerine on the nose. The tangerine showed up first on the palate, followed by a nice blend of herbal flavors, resin, grass, oranges, pine, and mango. Medium-bodied and soft bitterness on the finish. Another exceptional beer from HF.

Happy to be able to tick this off. Had it on tap The Farmhouse in Burlington. Also had it on cask at Mule Bar in Winooski the day after.

Pours a hazy orange.

The smell is crisp and tropical, pineapple, mango, you namit, it's in here.

Crisp taste, all of the fruit elements from the nose are here, followed by along, soft bitterness. Just outstanding stuff.

Refreshing mouthfeel, sharp carbonation. Would be a superb palate cleanser, I believe.

This was one of the beers I most looked forward to having, and oh yes, it lives up to the hype. Just a superb Pale Ale.

Slightly hazy pour, inch and a half of fluffy foam head with moderate retention
Smells of pine, slightly grassy with tones of peach, mango and sweet malt
Citrus up front that fades into a piney slightly bitter finish
A tad thin but pretty spot on for the style

Solid for an APA but feels like it's just a weak IPA rather than a highly developed APA.
