Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.20%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Abner (1867-1953) is our great grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his fourteen children. In his honor, this Double IPA is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Abner’s well. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and double dry hopped. Aromatic and flowery, bursting with notes of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Abner.

170 Theoretical IBU

Pale and Caramel Malt; Dextrose; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Enjoyed this amazing DIPA at Armsby Abby today.
Poured into tulip glass off draft. Super Cloudy, Hazy, and Orange.
Orange, citrus, and light floral nose.
Fluffy white head with nice lacing.
The taste was and mouth feel take this beer to the next level in my opinion. Smooth and almost pillow like, with notes of orange, grapefruit, and mango. Ending with a smooth malty finish. Well balanced.
This is everything I want in a beer. Truly a world class beer!

Thanks To Dylan at the Henry Street Taproom for a very generous share on this one.
This beer is fantastic. All the reviews hit I right on the nose.....speaking of nose, that's they only lacking for this beer. It truly had very little if any aroma to me. I was shocked by that considering how incredible the flavor is. A world-class beer without a doubt.

Growler was filled yesterday at the source.

A: Poured into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. Hazy honey-golden body with a small whitish head.

S: Very nice nose. Juicy citrusy hops (grapefruit, orange peel) and some tropical fruit.

T: Juicy. Citrusy hops - oranges, grapefruit, clementine oranges and a hint of apricot. Hops are soft, not brash, and more tasty than bitter. Warmth from ABV is felt in the belly ever-so-slightly.

M: Medium-to-full in body. Juicy and creamy, with modest carbonation.

O: This is pretty damn close to being the perfect DIPA.
