I love HF IPAs and this just underwhelmed for me. Probably my least favorite of their IPAs.

Wow, from the moment you pop the growler top, the aroma is amazing: citrus, hops. Flavor is white grapefruit, coriander and other citrus flavors. Light bodied (not thin at all) and pleasant tingle on the finish

Served on-tap at Capone's into a sampler glass.

A - Pours cloudy, murky, orange with a nice pillowy one finger white head leaving sticky spots of lacing down the glass.

S - Now we are talking! I let this baby sit for over an hour and it still had a HUGE citric hop punch up front, so damn intoxicating. Lots of grapefruit and other tropical fruits meld well with the sweet caramel malt. A simply amazing nose on this one.

T - Lots of strong grapefruit, from the hops, up front giving way quickly to a mix of sweet caramel malt and strong citric hops. Finish is caramel sweet with some lingering bitterness from the hops and dryness from the yeast. There is no doubt in my mind that I am a sucker for citra hops. This has been one of the best citra hop IPA's I have had to date.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Feel is very nice with plenty of bitter hops. Finish is bitter with a bit of dryness. Nothing too mind blowing in this department.

D - Very high. I think I could literally drink this all day. One of the best smelling IPA's I have had in quite some time. The taste was a bit of a letdown but it was still very good. I really enjoyed this one quite a bit. Excellent stuff for sure.

From 03/10/14 notes. Big thanks to BeerLawyer85 for sharing this one; thanks Ross! 64 oz. growler split 2 ways, so got a good 30 oz's of this or so. Poured into a tulip.

a - Pours a murky, bright yellow color with two inches of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks really nice.

s - Smells of citrus hops, lemongrass, lemon zest, floral hops, fruity malts, light grapefruit, and some bready malts. Lots of citrus. very nice nose.

t - Taste follows the nose pretty closely. Tastes of citrus hops, lemon zest, grapefruit, honey, floral hops, light pine, fruity malts, earthy notes, and light tropical notes. Taste is lightly bitter as well.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Very easy to drink with the tiniest bit of bitterness.

o - Overall I thought this was a very good beer. It is not their hoppiest beer, but it is very good and still has a good amount of citrus hops to it, and it is very drinkable. I wouldn't put it on the level of Zombie Dust or Hoppy birthday in terms of pale ales, but I think it is on par with Edward and still great.

Served on tap at the Res in Waterbury.
Pours a hazy golden sun color with generous one finger of frothy head.
Smells fantastic, tons of citra aromatics here.
Tastes fantastic, not just one note complex.
A chewy body that also creates a soft and velvety mouthfeel.
A masterpiece APA.

Thanks much to Stakem for sharing this with tenderbranson and me, enjoyed chilled in a goblet.

The color is light with golden hues and light haziness with white head and average bead/lace. The smell is extremely aromatic with hop forwad smell like few I have had the pleasure to inhale -lots of citrus, pineapple and dank hop esters which bring to mind pith of grapefruit and herbs. The feel has moderately high bitterness with subtle astringent tangy qualities and medium carbonation with mild sweetness to support the hop acidity.

The taste is great - tons of floral, herbal and dank flavors from the hops which are mildly grassy in a good way with somewhat tropical and grapefruit-like in the juicy taste as if one were cut at the peak of ripeness. Overall this is a hard to compare pale ale that demonstrates the aromatic qualities of Citra very well and is extremely drinkable almost IPA bitterness thanks again, Adam!

Huge thanks to Beerloco for this one. Shared with the family, and served in pint glass.

A - Pours with a finger of white foam that settles to a thin cap and leaving spots and splotches of lace. Hazy orange body that is evocative of grapefruit juice.

S - Huge unadulterated Citra hops. Tons of ripe grapefruit and orange, light chive, some nebulous tropical fruits, and a sugar cookie malt backdrop.

T - Great intense citrus zest, massive fruit juice character, and a hint of burnt sugar in the finish. Bitterness is present, but well-attenuated.

M - Medium-bodied, crisp moderate carbonation, very dry, with tons of residual hop oils.

D - This is absolutely crushable and thoroughly delicious. Even my mother-in-law liked this, and she doesn't even like beer. I could have consumed all 70oz or so on my own with ease. This is what I was expecting Cenotaph to be like.

Thanks to rudzud for sharing this beauty.

Nice creamy 1 finger head fades at a med pace with sticky lacing, hazy carrot orange color.

Nose nice hops, citrus, tangerine, orange zest, light guava, clementine, etc, with a hint of sweet malty base, very light musty passion fruit, juicy hops.

Taste is very nice, delicious fruity hops, tropical fruit, grapefruit, guava, musty passion fruit, hint of pineapple, tangerine, clementine, even a hint of mint and spicy hop kick, with a mild creamy malt sweetness. Finish brings creamy malts, more resinous fruit, tropical fruit, tons of fruit, and a light fluffy malt, fairly dry, nice bitterness that hits to just the right amount.

Moth is med bodied, good carb, slightly hop oily.

Overall awesome, great hops, even better malt, nice lingering finish, not too bitter either, overall well done IPA and really brings the citra hop to it's peak of awesomeness.

Thanks to @EvilAsh for grabbing me a growler of this. The best comparison I have for this is Zombie Dust- but this beer blows zombie dust away. It has the wonderful Citra flavor, but it is so much cleaner. If more people had access to this, it would be a top 5 beer on this site...

Appearance: Hazy yellow-gold. Head is bright-white and creamy. Drops to a small wisp of a cap in short order. Small fluffy cap and collar. A few notches and wisps of lacing.

Smell: Nectarine and a touch of peach. Leafy hop. Clean malt base. Pale malt sweetness. A touch of biscuit and slightly toasted white bread. Sweet and tropical, as in tropical punch minus the sugar. A touch of soft hop spice and a touch of lime. Almost hits at green wood and a touch of pine. Nicely balanced.

Taste: Mango and peach. Touches of tangerine. Sweet candied tropical fruit. Malts are slightly bready with a mild underlying sweetness. Obviously loaded with Citra. Tropical fruit abounds. A touch of tree branch coupled with a soft floral and spicy edge. Some lemon candy. A touch grassy. Leafy hop as well. Lightly toasted in the back. Yeast throws a slight fruity ester Ends up sipping a bit one dimensional. Hop oil. Aggressively pushes the Citra and it ends up sipping like hop pellets.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with a moderate carbonation. A touch creamy. Slightly dry with some astringency.

Overall: Citra is good, this is good.

Single hopped stuff always ends up one note, as expected, but this just loses a little as a result. It's a true and genuine homage to this hop but it's not able to shine alone.

750 growler poured into tulip glass.
Pours a hazy yellow with a nice lively head that settles into a slight film across the top of the beer. There is a good amount of sticky lacing.
Smell. Citra Hops, nuff said. Seriously though, Citra is my weakness. This smells of a beautiful citrus bouqet. You can almost 'smell' bitter.
The taste starts of with a dry bitterness and stays that way pretty much throughout. This one will leave a good hop 'heartburn'...I for one, relly enjoy that feeling.
Mouthfeel is a little chewy. I really enjoy swishing this in my mouth.
No surprise here, HF made an eexcellent beer. If you get the chance, drink this!!!!
