Notes / Commercial Description:
Everett (1908-1939) was our grandfather’s brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Porter is crafted from American malted barley, English and German roasted malts, American hops, our ale yeast, and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Decadent in its depth, with a complex backbone of chocolate, coffee, and malty sweetness, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Everett.

Pale, Caramel, and Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, Columbus hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

The flavor of this should be the standard for all porters. That being said, it's a standard Porter. Nothing added to excite me or elevate this to a higher rating. Good beer with coffee notes.

opaque black not all that viscous but still only a slight see through at the edges. smell is chocolatey with a hint of coffee and some caramel. Taste kind of follows the nose but seems a tad light and the hops are rather pronounced for this style of beer. There is a piney undertone throughout. Feel is smooth and light. Overall a rather good porter that flirts with the stout line. True to its essence with a strong hoppy profile.

Poured from last year's bottle (late August 2015 bottling date) into a nonic pint. Black as night with a dark tan head makes up the appearance. Once the head fades it is hard to disturb it back to life.

Big aroma after the pour, molasses, chocolate, booze, I'm in for a treat here. Flavorwise this was probably the best porter I've ever had. Huge chocolate malt notes, some espresso bean, big molasses note, raisin, touch of alcohol spice. Thick, chewy body, takes some time to finish this one.

Overall best porter yet. Never had a "dark beer" from Hill Farmstead before this one and I can't believe they are so versatile. Can't wait for the next bottle!
