Notes / Commercial Description:
Florence (1915-1967) was our grandfather’s sister, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Belgian inspired Wheat ale is crafted from American malted barley, Organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Soft, cloudy, and fresh, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence.

Pale Malt; Vermont Organic Wheat; American and European Hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Hazy Yellow color with very light white bubbly head

Smell is sour citrus

Taste is light farmhouse wheat flavor with a primarily sour profile but not overpoweringly tart

Feel is very crisp and a little dry with some light carbonation

Overall a great summer time beer very light and mild with good flavor

Pours without any head and smells of mild barnyard funk. Taste is strongly tart and layers of green apple, citrus/limes comes through with a dry finish.

This pours a light golden color in glass. A thin white head on top which disappeared quickly. The nose is tart with hints of lemongrass and perhaps a little other citrus thrown in. The taste is crisp and clean. Slightly tart with no lingering aftertaste.
The mouthfeel is pleasant with good carbonation which lasts throughout the glass. A well done beer in this style great for sipping on this hot and humid June afternoon.

This was poured into a tulip, a nonic and a weizen. I didn’t knowwhat it was until now. Review will be from the tulip since this is a saison. The appearance had a hazy burnt yellow color with a slim one finger’s worth of foamy white head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds. Lacing is stringy and messy. The smell had a sweet to sour lemon, light sour wheat (grainy but sweet and good). Lemon rind with light orange strolls in to amplify a nice balance. The taste is sweet to sour to having a refined bitter underneath. A dry sweet lemon wheat aftertaste leads into a sticky sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable feel about it. Carbonation runs smooth and lets up to allow the wheat base to smooth things out. Overall, as a saison, it works. With the wheat base to amplify the specifics and intrigue saison lovers further, well that helps to make a nice Summer session.

Drank at Armsby Abby in Worcester, MA today as a 4 oz sample; a little more tart than I typically like in my saisons but an excellent beer in all ways; basically no flaws at all
