Notes / Commercial Description:
Florence (1915-1967) was our grandfather’s sister, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Belgian inspired Wheat ale is crafted from American malted barley, Organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Soft, cloudy, and fresh, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence.

Pale Malt; Vermont Organic Wheat; American and European Hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Pale yellow cloudy beer, starts with a 2 finger head that disapears. Smells of wheat dough, tart lemon, and floral hops. The taste is a bit tart, dry, sweet, and bready. Spicy and peppery notes as well.
Solid saison, more tart than I am used to, however its very citrusy. Really like this beer.

From a bomber. Excellent saison. Crisp, subtle, sweet but lightly citrusy, very balanced. It would be easy to drink in dangerous quantities on summer evening. My rating may be depressed by my having this beer shortly after sharing a bottle of Ann, which Florence does not match. But I'm not a wheat beer enthusiast, either, and I thought this was pretty great--so those who love the style more than I do might find bliss here.

One year later, just had another bottle on its own. And, yeah, I underrated it last time. A really great beer.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a light yellowish gold color with a large foamy white head that fades quickly and leaves a spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains wheat, Belgian yeast, light caramelized malts, bananas, some citrus and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of Belgian yeast and wheat. Then some mildly sweet flavors of bananas, citrus and caramel come in. The malt character is thin and the hops presence is mild but they create a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, light-to-medium body, medium-to-high carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid Saison to pound down for a long time.

Bottle share at Steve's. Soft gentle tart. Pale, hazy golden pour. Witbier? Close. Mildly fruity, light bodied. Wheat gives the style a bit different character.

Poured into a Hill Farmstead tulip from a bottle bottled on 12/29/15.

A: A translucent gold with a white bubbly head.
S: Lemons and slightly tart. Some farmhouse funk.
T: Lemony with some farmhouse funk.
F: Effervescent and not super smooth.
O: This is alright. About what I'd expect from a Hill Farmstead saison. Refreshing and drinkable.
