Pours an opaque honey-orange with a finger of white foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is grapefruit, papaya, mango, pineapple, gritty grain, yeast and syrupy, herbal hops. Tropical fruit notes are ripe and fleshy. Flavor profile is papaya, grapefruit rind, mango, pulpy pineapple and yeast. Grain comes in at the back end, softening up the ripe, fleshy tropical fruits. Despite being centered on a single hop, there is a pleasant dynamic. Mouth feel is soft with a very light graininess at the back end. It has a medium-thick consistency. Overall, tropical fruits are ripe, almost to the point of being too ripe, but still creates a great experience.

On tap at John's on Hall.
A hazy orange with a dense white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is loaded with pungent Nelson hops. Loads of gooseberry, green grape, melon rind. So much Nelson that it takes on a mild grass note. Moderate juice. The palate opens with an unmistakable Nelson hop character. Bitter gooseberry juice, green grape, mild floral notes. Mineral rich white wine, honey. Drying, bitter finish with a touch of grass. Excellent.

Deep orange west coast look. Nose is white grape and grass clippings. Taste is white wine, sweet grapes, grass, and pine resin. Soft, full mouthfeel. Big, prickly lingering bitterness. An ode to the single greatest hop ever produced.

3 months old. Can to wine glass.
L: Pours a hazy yellow with a pillowy white head that dissipates after a while and leaves plenty of lacing. Some floaters visible.
S: Tropical with notes of ripe citrus fruits and strawberries. Hoppy and a bit woody.
T: Subtle notes of pineapple, mango, strawberries and ripe white grapes. Medium sweetness with a slightly bitter finish. Malty, biscuity and a bit grassy.
F: Very juicy, even a bit sticky. Low carbonation. Quite full for a Pale.
O: Great Pale Ale that showcases the hop variety in an remarkable way. Nice mix of NZ hops and American craft. Very flavorful despite its low ABV. Not as crushable as other HF Pales (which isn‘t necessarily a bad thing).

Cloudy, burnt gold color. Moderate sized head from a reasonably violent pour. It settles to a film of minute bubbles but leaves ample and broad streaks on the glass.
Mostly white pepper nose (hops) and light tutti-fruity (malt). Subsequent smells draws out some weediness and other green organic matter. The strong aromas mellow as the beer settles.
The malt holds up as long as I don't swallow. That's the moment where the strong bitterness kicks in. The mouthfeel leans thinner, but the swallow makes it seem bigger. Either way, the carbonation is a bit muted. The finish is similar to sucking a hop pellet with a lot of black pepper spiciness dominating. Long, bitter aftertaste.

wonderful biscuit and grainy character throughout, very clean beer that is perfect to showcase a single hop... this one brings plenty of grassy, floral, and earthy hop character, as well as an pungent grapefruit note that blends beautifully with hints of white grape and pineapple. nelson is such a cool hop and this pale ale perfectly displays its unique flavors.

This ale. made with early harvest Nelson Sauvin hops, gives you more bready, grainy, earthy flavor, especially toward the aftertaste. It's a deep golden brew, with a moderate white head, and a new take on this New Zealand hop variety.
