Notes / Commercial Description:
Earl (1911-1985) was our grandfather’s brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Stout is crafted from American malted barley, Flaked Oats, English roasted malts, American hops, Organic Guatemalan Coffee, our ale yeast, and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. A silhouette of coffee and malt - an embodiment of complexity and drinkability, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Earl.

Pale, Caramel, and Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, Columbus hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

L: aggressive pour leads a tan root beer float long lasting head with a nice clear black bottom
S: strong roasted malt flavor followed by a faint booze burn (a good thing)
T: front is strong roasted coffee flavor follows the nose a burnt roasted malt
M: A touch thin for a oatmeal stout but the + is easy to drink

O: a great beer that I throughly enjoyed

A:
Pours a thick used motor oil color with three fingers of tan whipped cream head.
Decent retention; doilies of lacing. (4.25)

S:
Sweet layers of roast malt. Molasses, nuts, coffee, chocolate. (4.25)

T:
Follows the nose with the bitter notes a little more up front than the sweet. (4.25)

M:
Velvety body with medium carbonation and a smooth finish. (4.25)

O:
Really nice beer!
This is a rich, full, drinkable, malty beauty of a beer. Pours nice, smells nicer, tastes and feels better still. It is not too strong in any one point, nutty, chocolatey, roasty, big, great all around. (4.5)

Dark brown pour, But a thumbs worth of head. Huge roast and oat aroma. Taste of fresh roasted coffee beans, oat, roasted malt, grains, dark bakers chocolate. Fuller body, amazing mouthfeel

This is one of the top 5 stouts I've ever had. Amazing flavor without the residual aftertaste I find with many stouts. huge coffee flavors. This is one of the few stouts I could drink over and over again.
