Growler filled 9/1, consumed 9/4.

Appearance: Bright deep yellow with a nice big-bubbled white head.

Nose: Grassy, cheesy, slightly medicinal, tons of orange rind and grapefruit pith. Light touch of toasted wheat crusts underneath.

Taste: Most of the Amarillo character comes through in the nose, this is an excellent aroma hop. The flavor is a little bit more subdued, but there's still plenty of herbaceous spiciness and grassy notes accented by a light white bread maltiness.

Mouthfeel: Effervescent, clean mouthfeel. Easy drinking, no issue putting down a growler of this.

Overall: An excellent showcase of a really versatile hop. Complex and unique aromas and an infinitely drinkable refined flavor make this a very nice pale ale.

750 mL growler poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Pale hazy orange. Huge white head. Laces nicely and retains a thin layer of surface foam.

Smell - Orangey hops. A bit of grapefruit. Smells like a sweet freshly cut orange though. Slight bit of pale malt.

Taste - Really orangey. Slight sweetness. Pale malt and a ton of graininess. There's a little bit of a weird flavor in the very back, but it's so slight I'm not really sure it's the beer or my imagination.

Mouthfeel - Light, grainy, with a false sweetness. Fades quickly to a grainy and light bitterness.

Overall - The hop is good, but one dimensional. Doesn't live up to the other single hop pales from Hill Farmstead.

Hill Farmstead Brewery - Amarillo Pale Ale, poured into a tulip glass.

Look - Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a massive foamy head that leaves an abundance of lacing.

Smell - Fruity almost lemon crisp hop presence. Light malt. Some spice.

Taste - Fruity citrus hop with a pinch of sour fruits and a little zest.

Mouthfeel - Dry and crisp. Super drinkable and no booziness.

Overall - Another stellar sessionable APA from Hill. A friend hung onto a growler for five or so days sealed and refrigerated and the hops really evolved into a zestiness similar to HT but more toned down. Great both times!
