Our award winning interpretation of a Bohemian Style Pilsner. Spicy, citrus peel botanicals combine with a dry, peppery finish to create a truly thirst-quenching lager. A beer that demands you take more than one sip.

The interpretation of a Bohemian Style Pilsner: Spicy, citrus peel botanicals combine with a dry, peppery finish. It’s a great interpretation of the style, but not one of my favorite styles; Too floral for my taste. But again, a great interpretation of the style.

Pours a clear golden straw color with a small tight white head that settled into a light cap.

The aroma is of spicy, grassy hops. Hint of lime.

The taste is of grassy European hops. A hint of lime that I always detect from these hops. The malt is dry and crackery.

The feel is light but not watery, fizzy carbonation. Good balance.

A very nice example of the style. Hits on all aspects.

Had a few pints on tap, it poured clear gold color with 2 finger white foamy head that faded in average time and left decent lacing. Smells of floral hops, buttery wheat bread, sweet malt, fresh cut grass and faint spices. The hops were more potent than most pilsners which mixed well with the malty notes, herbs, fresh cut grass, floral hops and mild spices. Bitterness was low with a light, crisp feel, bubbly carbonation and an overall crushable drinkability. A really good beer.

BEST BY 01/21/26. Poured into a glass tumbler.

A: Crystal clear gold with 2-finger white frothy head with good retention and solid lacing.

S: Soft bready pils malt and herbal, grassy noble hop

T: Flavor is on-target for style with hop-dominated flavor with herbal, grassy, spicy hop character and slightly sweet pils malt with honey in the finish. Bitterness is medium-high which helps drinkability.

M: Light-medium body with high carbonation and lightly dry finish.

O: Von Trapp Pilsner is a very good Czech Pilsner with high-ish bitterness and sweeter pils malt character.

Picked up a 12 oz can from the Appalachian Vintner in Asheville 6-20-25 for $2.38. Best by 7-17-25; consumed 7-25-25. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured clear gold with a very nice white head with the original pour.

Nose is nice as i am getting a solid cereal grain primarily. Getting some floral hopping in the back end.

Taste is not really crackery, not really bready, but a sweet cereal malt base up front. Hops bring an floral and herbal vibe on the back end leaving a touch of black pepper bitterness; 5/10 on my scale.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and more smooth than refreshing.

Overall, i suspect this brew's hopping is past prime time. This is definitely worth another look-see as von Trapp is a favorite lager brewer!

This pilsner compares favorably with Rathaus. The taste is similar. I prefer a North German Pilsner like Flensburger or Jever, but this is a solid beer.

12 oz can served at Al Forno (Providence, RI), poured into a small pilsener glass. Clear, straw yellow with a nice cap of frothy white head. Clean aroma of floral hops, citrus zest and bready malt. Similarly clean flavors with malty bread notes, spicy hops and citrus zest lead to a crisp, bitter hop finish. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Satisfying, drinkable Pilsener that nicely washes down Al Forno’s grilled pizza.

This beer is very well done. Very carbonated, but the carbonation doesn't have the same bite as other highly carbonated beers. Could be because I've been sipping it for about 30 minutes so far. So this really is the Sound of Music family! Interesting. This is quite a good pilsner. Spicy Saaz hops against a bready malt backdrop. There is indeed a hint of lemon. It doesn't try to do anything fancy for the US craft beer consumers. Wouldn't be laughed out of Czechia, I don't think.

Very nice Czech style lager that does a good job at most things, but does not equal it's across the Atlantic counterparts. Good cereal grain and complex baked bread character with a spicy, tangy, floral hop bite. Body and carbo are just fine, but that's where things separate as Euro offerings nail a fuller somewhat fluffier body with spot on light but still fizzy carbo. That said, von Trapp is an excellent lager maker and will happily drink this Pils or other beers anytime.
