Pours a clear light golden color with a poorly retained one and a half inch head that left lots of lacing. Smells and tastes of sweet malts, crackers, grass, pepper, floral notes and some grapefruit. Light bodied, well carbonated, clean and crisp. Very well done pilsner.

I first heard of this brewery by sampling some of their stuff at a beer fest a few weeks ago. Glad to see it at City Swiggers, NYC.
From the bottle, it pours a clear golden straw that carries a hint of orange. A big bubbly head soon dissipates and leaves scattered rings of lacing.
The nose features a combination of doughy grain, sweet malt, grassy and spicy hops, and even a subtle hint of fruit. Oddly enough, the aroma seems to fade and becomes cleaner later on, with only a hint of spice and malt.
The best thing that I can say about the taste and mouthfeel is that it is one of the most crisp, refreshing and crushable beers you will find. I might have set a personal record in terms of how fast I drank this. Light and gently carbonated, a largely clean profile nevertheless has depth and flavor. Doughy malt feel with a silky finish makes up the base. A modest grassy and hops spice balances things out. A subtle fruit sweetness and lemon tartness create a nice interplay.
It is truly a treat to drink a delicious and seemingly authentic representation of a bohemian lager, especially amidst the landscape of American craft brewers that favor hoppy ales. I hope to see more from VonTrapp Brewery and in general, of well made American craft lagers.

Straw yellow, dense white head. Dusty, earthy, lemony, firmly hoppy, moderate pils malt, faintly soapy. Bitter up front, lemony, earthy, mildly honeyed malt, a touch soapy on the mid palate. Clean, bitter finish, refreshing and enjoyable.

Had on tap. Pours clear, light yellow in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is grass, grain with light floral hops. Light bodied, slightly bitter, with moderate carbonation. Solid pilsener although there have been several others in the style that I have preferred lately.

On tap at Von Trapp Brewing in Stowe, VT.

This one pours a clear light golden orange, with a small head and a good bit of lacing.

This smells like herbal and spicy hops, with sweet grain and light sulfur.

This is an exceptional pilsner. It's got such a nice crisp hop flavor- a lot herbal, a bit spicy, with a subtle grain sweetness that makes this super enjoyable. It's very well balanced- simple, but harmonious.

This is crisp and super clean, with a nice slight lingering bitterness- it allows for an eagerness to get the next sip in.

This is absolutely wonderful.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep golden with tall, long lasting, fluffy, white head and soda like carbonation. Aroma is of some hops and biscuit malt. Body is medium and crisp. Herbal, perfumy hops and biscuit malt fill the mouth. Finish is long and dry. Very good Pilz.

On draft in a plastic pint cup (music venue)

Clear dark golden in color, foamy white head. Decent head retention. Grainy earthy aroma. Taste is mildly sweet, I would have liked a little more hops to balance. Good mouthfeel though.

It pours a rather light straw yellow with a small head. The aroma is malty and sweet in a nice floral way. The taste is also sweet with very little hop presence and a floral/candy aftertaste. Light body and with minimal carbonation.

Crisp, clean, tasty. Can't go wrong with any of Von Trapp's lagers; they're similar to Jack's Abbey in that way. While I think their bock bier is the best they make, this pilsener is delicious. Straw gold, clear as a bell on Sunday morning. Lively carbonation lasts throughout pushing bubbles up towards the dimpled puffy head. Aroma is cracker, biscuit, lemon peel. Taste is light malty biscuit, white bread, spicy hops and a kiss of melon. Crisp, clean, well made. Finishes with a pop of carbonation and a touch of bitterness. Great beer.

Pours hazy pale yellow with decent head from bottle into glass. Smell is of grain. Taste is grain, grassy hops and lemon hops that add a bite at the end. Feel is smooth, drinkable, and refreshing, but not at all thin. Overall, great example of the style.

Pours a bright golden yellow color with a thick frothy white head. Slight cloudy in appearance. Lots of sticky white lacing is left behind on the glass.

Smell has notes of cracker pilsner malts, some bright lemony floral hops and a touch of bread.

Taste follows the nose with notes of cracker malts, doughy bread, lemony floral hops with a lingering spicy bitterness on the finish.

Feel is light and yet a bit chewey. There is a sharpness to the flavors that I like. Counters the chewiness.

Overall a nice well done bohemian pilsner.

This is a great pilsner. Full flavor, smooth, crisp, really tasty. Interesting to see it unfiltered. Von Trapp definitely seems to know how to make a quality lager. yb

This was poured into a pilsner glass. The appearance was a straw yellow color with a two finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipates at a nice pace. Moderate thin stringy lace. The aroma takes in sharp spicy Saaz hops (grassy bitter harsh) and let’s it flow over a nice contrast of sweet biscuits. Evens out nicely. The flavor takes in a nice blend of the previously mentioned aromas to boot. Light balanced aftertaste of biscuits/breadiness to grassy hops and that rides into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fabulous sessionability about it. Low carbonation seems to hit appropriately. Spicy hops balance with their sharpness over my tongue. Overall, really nice Czech pilsner that I would have again.
