Pours completely clear - kind of a bronzed golden color. Effervescent. Thin white head dissipates steadily leaving no lacing. Not sure why my bottle poured so clear when most others reported a hazy or cloudy appearance.

Smell has notes of wheat, floral sweet hops, honey, and some yeast like aromas.

Taste follows the nose with lots of wheat up front tinged with a slightly spicy yeast. That gives way to some floral almost generically fruity hops - maybe some apricot? Taste is on the sweet side with notes of honey. The yeast lingers through to the finish providing that spiced clove finish you'd expect from a Hefe.

Feel is thin and light - almost too much so for the style. Gentle but mildly prickly carbonation. Touch of bitterness on the finish that is rather unique to beers of this style.

Overall this is a solidly average Hefe - it doesn't live up to some of the better American made examples of the style, but its a good beer that offers a well one take on the style.

medium golden color. The light heavy leathery butts memes drinking. Suttle creamy but yet foamy taste.

Von Trapp Brewing "Weissbier"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BEST BY 08/16/16" on 06/16/16
$1.80 @ 802 BWS, Burlington, VT

When I first tasted this I thought it was a Belgian-style witbier because of all the spiciness upfront, and the fact that it seems a little lighter in body than most examples. Then I tasted the banana. (Huh?) There's a lot of clove, white pepper, and medicinal phenols to it which I was not expecting. It's also really quite yeasty in character (that dry acidity that yeast can give) despite the fact that there's no yeast in the bottle. Another twist from the normally expected (Franziskaner, Ayinger Bräu Weisse, Erdinger Weissbier) is that the hops are much clearer, appearing distinctly across the middle and into the finish. It's unusual, and interesting, with additional notes of apple and other fruit, maybe plum and/or apricot. It's not particularly bitter, but the spiciness and acidity of the yeast certainly balance it out, leaving it dry, spicy, and hoppy int the finish.

Gold with small white head that doesn't stick around but laces a little. Extremely faint aroma here of lemony corn. Flavor is extremely...absent. This might be the most flavorless craft beer I have ever had. Nothing bad, but also nothing good. A hint of earthiness with some minerals. Not sweet, not bitter, this is perfectly balanced and carbonated with its medium-small body.

Musical equivalent: A Coldplay song.

Solidly amber color with a significant haze as one would expect. While the head is modest, the lace is solid, leaving rings after each sip.

Earthy aroma with a bit of the beef stew smell I sometimes get.

The flavor is far more wheaty than I expected based on the smell. There's a sweetness that blends nicely with the wheat flavors. This is a gentle Weissbier. The finish has a far stronger hop presence than most of this style.

12 oz bottle. Best by 7/1/18.

Bright, pale gold color and very cloudy after swirling to rouse and add the yeast from the bottom of the bottle. Large white head with good retention and some patchy lacing on the glass.

Bit of an odd aroma which, unfortunately, was a sign of things to come. Mild wheat, banana, and lemon with bubble gum, but there was an earthiness or minerality that just seemed out of place.

Extremely light, almost empty flavor that makes me think my bottle was from a bad batch. This was consistent with each of the first 3 beers I've had from my 6-pack so far. Wheat malt, banana and lemon make up most of the flavor.

As with the flavor, the body was extremely light. Way too thin, even for the style.

Overall, there's potential here but I fear that something went wrong. I'll have to try it another time and see if it was an isolated case.

On-tap 3/25/2017 at Pizza J’s in Providence, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a short white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains wheat, caramelized malts, bananas, some citrus and some hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of wheat and a hearty malt character. Then some sweet flavors of banana, citrus and caramel come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, very good representation of style, this is a very solid beer to drink for a while, if you’re in the mood for the style.

A lightly hazed out gold color with light amber hues. An even white cap provides decent coverage.

A very robust earthy nose, big herba and spice combo, golden wheat, grains, funky, sour edged herbs, all spice, sun dried fall leaves and cloves. Very nice nose.

A full-on earthy wheat malt flavor with very herbal effects, spices...the whole herb rack worth of flavor. An esrthy, funky sour yeast and light hop combo. The pale malted wheat is just excellent. Very big wheat flavor accented by all the right nuances.

Light and crisp but heavier than some "whites" or wheat based beer, just because it is very full of flavor. The pale wheat malt gives this a medium feel, mildly crisp but very easy and fun to drink.

An excellent weissbier.

12oz bottle poured into a small Weizen glass with the yeast agitated and added.

A: Golden-Amber in color with a good deal of haze. Rocky white head retains very well.

S: Clove, flashes of pepper, a bit medicinal, yeasty. Banana creme pie in the background. Some sharper tropical aromas too, like fleshy tangerine. Juicy fruit gum. Coarsely wheaty.

T: Follows the nose, with a big hit of clove and medicinal flavors up front. Vanilla. Very yeasty. Coarse wheat. Hint of alcohol. Flashes of Tangerine and apricot. White pepper, at times. Bananas and creme far in the background. Hop bitterness rides up a little toward the back and into the finish. Wheaty finish.

M: Medium-light body. Full, round, and creamy-smooth feel. Expressive carbonation lends a sharp, crisp bite.

O: Comes on a bit strong, especially in the phenol department. Feels a little rough around the edges. Not bad though.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden with tall, long lasting, foamy, white head and lively carbonation. Aroma is of spices, banana, and wheat malt. Body is medium and crisp. Spices, wheat malt, banana, some hops and lemon fill the mouth. Finish is long and dry with some sourness. There is some sourness in every bottle from a variety pack. OK brew over all.
