I suspect this is the last one of these I'll have for a while. The Trapp beers come in quart (whoops - liter) flippies which is a format homebrewers like. The Vienna is a toasted hazy gold in the glass and the head was pretty sturdy. Initial smells seem subtle but inviting and get better. It's that first wonderful soft so balanced lager taste that wins every time for this beer and its brewery. An absolute Olympic gold medal winner.

A copper colored beer with a small white head that dissipated quickly.
Aroma of bread, cereal, and grass.
Malt-forward. Complimentary hops.
Light and crisp.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Great looking white froth on top, mildly hazed pale amber hue. Fresh maltly nose of bread grain, grass, & grapenuts. Ample crispness within a moderate sized body. Mostly clean, full malt palate. Hops balance and compliment. Easy to knock back, a good rendition of the style.

Pours clear, gold, with 1/2 inch head. Taste is toasted malt, grain, and I get a touch of cinnamon. An average to slightly above average version of the style. Decent, but I prefer others.

8oz pour into a small glass.

Pours a golden amber color with a very small white head. Nose is a bit sulfury and sweet with a light maltiness.

Taste is very rich and malty and super drinkable. There's a very lIght hoppiness and smooth crisp finish. Really this is an xcelle t xample of the style a bit less toasty than I'd like but very good.

A sizzly white head disappears quickly over the top of a clear, apricot colored liquid with streams of fine bubbles rising up. Low aroma of biscuity malt and some sweet corn. Flavor is malty upfront, biscuity and delicate, bready notes emerge and floral hops rise up to meet it. Moderate spiciness, some corn notes in the finish. Even mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Good beer, good representation of the style.

Poured clear with a good frothy head. Good retention. Smell is sweet malt with a very faint caramel/cotton candy aroma. Taste is moderately sweet malt, commanding but not cloying. There is a faint burnt caramel edge that doesn't quite fit in, and this affects the otherwise near perfect mouthfeel. Very drinkable, would be an A+ if the malt was a little smoother.

Bottled on: ? (Picked it up fresh in July)

Purchased @ Trapp Family Lodge, Stowe Vt on a joint family vacation with Rochefort10nh.

Price - $18.00/bottle (1 quart 1.8oz)

Pours a beautiful shade of copper with a two inch fluffy white head and great legs. Much more lacing than I was expecting.

The smell begins with a sweet aroma of caramel malt followed by fresh baked bread and floral hops.

The taste is lite and not overly sweet with caramel, bananas and bread.

Mouthfeel is soft and creamy smooth from start to finish with a medium body. Slightly carbonated and very drinkable. There is a build up over time of some dryness from the hops which adds to the balance.

Overall this is a very solid lager and true to the style. I also enjoyed their Dunkel lager on tap which was just as enjoyable.

DATE: April 13, 2018... OCCASION: Friday night watching The Office with Shan... GLASSWARE: Paulaner lager pokal... pours a bright golden body with random sized bubbles floating upwards... the head is white, thick but not clumpy.... damp, dank hops aroma spells a toasted malty base... sweet and malty, though a light phenolic waft interjects some brake on the allure... smooth, buttery and pronounced at the throat... highly drinkable and bright at the introduction, and light-bodied overall... the combination of hops makes a sharp, confident lager with soft toasted malts and oats sweetening the crisp finish... lemon, grass, and light spiciness make this a reasonable finish to a week, and one that could accompany a number of events...

"A little of Austria, a lot of Vermont"

Cannot express how impressed I've been with their traditional, old world style lager. My friend and I have been searching for American versions of these classic styles, without them being "Americaized"...i.£ hoppy versions of traditional brews. Lo and behold, The Von Trapp lagers!!

Thw Vienna lager was the first one I tried/purchased. I was blown away by the quality and the fact it didn't an excess of hops, like most American versions of Pilsners and lagers. I like mine more true to the original style and flavor profile. Not only is it true to the original style, its freakin local!!

A classic look, amber gold color, mild carbonation and a light, white foam cap, just enough coverage, dissipates pretty fast.

The aroma has the perfect blend of bready-sweet vienna malt, green and herbal light hops with the tell tale buttery lager yeast.

The flavor is a very clean, sparkling malt, slightly sweet and bready with a minor kick of green-veggie hops and a perfect herbal, earthy and slightly funky lager yeast blend. Balance: perfect. Flavor's are bold but true to style. It's like going to Europe, but staying in Vermont.

The feel is light and very crisp, the pure spring water goes a long way in the overall quality and effect. Mildly slick malt, crisp finish. Nice!!

The herbal and earthy lager funk is right on! The x factor is balance. Traditional flavor balance and still bold and satisfying ...without too many hops, imagine that.

This is a go-to when I want a no grills, straight, traditional lager.

Pours a hazy amber/gold with good foamy head and mild lacing. Smells very sweet of malt and biscuit, little honey and minor floral. Tastes very nice, rich malty goodness with a hint of honey sweetness, some floral tones, and a mild dryness on the finish. This was a pleasant beer all around and very smooth, zero bitterness and would rate it a lighter beer.
