Like another reviewer said, it's like hoppy fruit punch. I love both of the base beers (Citra Pale Ale and El Dankerino) and would love to try the blend before it was barrel aged, but the addition of the wine barrel lends a taste of actual fruit to the "fruity" hops, which sounds weird on paper but in practice it's pretty phenomenal. The smell is otherworldly as well. This is one that may not be for everyone, but I just love it.

"ANOTHER WINNER FROM ODD SIDE" as they say. This brewery is improving fast, and doing very original things to boot.

Such an original beer. The red wine barrels make this pale ale taste like hoppy fruit punch. Another winner from Odd Side.

Poured into a standard pint a little pink tinged lighter tangerine color with a half finger white head atop, like the pink tinge. Some citric hops mixed with some of the fruity oak to go along with mild oak toast.Loved the flavors a mix of citric sharp hops and buttery oak from the barrel, some light tannins come thru as well,a well rounded palate.A very cool beer with alot going on,the barrel isn't to big.

Says retired but bottle I bought is dated Nov 2016.
Pours hazy orange color. Nice head but not crazy like some said. Looks great in a tulip glass.
Nose brings out the red wine aging with some fruit from the cites ale. Interesting if not my favorite.
Taste is great. Red wine aging comes through but isn't overpowering. Got better the more I drank it. Plenty of hops and definite citrus flavor.
Mouthfwelnis substantial a little lingering bitterness. I like it.
Overall a drinkable beer with plenty of character. Would seem to go well with almost anything, food or environment, other than a really hot day on the beach!
Recommend trying it if you see it.

Unique combination. Very tasty, both fruity and hoppy. overpriced at $5.99 a bottle.

Thought this was something different and worth trying, ale aged in red win barrels hadn't had before. Overall pretty good, what I liked most was the red wine taste. Not much in way of smell but good taste.

12 FL OZ. bottle
Served in a tulip glass

This beer pours a cloudy amber color with burnt orange highlights. The head was gigantic. I was caught off guard and it toppled over the sides. The head is tan in color with some pretty good lacing.

The aroma contains citrus as well as a fruity smell.

The taste starts out with a nice citrus flavor. Then I get that fruit I smells. It is a ripe red fruit flavor, not necessarily wine. There is some bitterness as well.

Medium mouthfeel

I had this beer on tap and it seemed more bitter. The bottled version seems like a perfect marriage of citrus and wine barrels. I really like this beer. I assume from the label that it is Citrus Pale Ale as the base. Regardless of the base, it is a well crafted barrel aged pale ale.
