Bottled on 12/21/17. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a glowing hazy and cloudy burnt golden with a small off-white head that fades leaving solid retention and lacing. There's also some sediment/floaties in the mix. The aromas have hints of orange and cocoa. Lots of malts. The flavors follow the nose for the most part. More orange and chocolate leading the way. The coffee flavors are subtle and mild, or maybe have faded a bit. Vanilla is there. It's bittersweet with a solid malt backbone. Mild alcohol notes in the finish, but it's definitely not hot or boozy at all. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of full-bodied with active carbonation. It's pretty smooth and ultimately easy to drink.

This is an interesting and unique brew. It's almost like an orange Tootsie Roll pop in a glass. I don't love it, but I do like it. Everything works.

Bottled 12/21/17; drank 4/26/18 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy orange appearance.

A violent pour yielded a small white head; minimal lace.

Marmalade, vanilla bean, light roast coffee bean & chocolate syrup notes in the nose.

Thick, sticky mouthfeel.

Marmalade & vanilla bean flavors up front; medium roast coffee bean & chocolate syrup notes on the finish. Faint lager yeast notes emerged as this warmed.

Unique to the point of being weird; certainly worth a quaff but also certainly not for everyone. I can't say I'll ever buy this again, but I wasn't bored!

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in an oversized, stemless wine glass

This beer pours burnt orange in color with amber highlights. Suspended yeast is visible. It is topped with an inch of creamy, tan head that leaves little lacing.

The smell is as advertised, coffee, vanilla, and orange.

It starts out with a coffee and cream taste. The orange and vanilla work their way into the mix.

Medium and creamy mouthfeel

It is an interesting beer for sure. I would drink it again but probably not on a regular basis. It is a fun novelty beer.

Pours orange. Thick, medium, white head lasts a while.

Smells coffee, orange, vanilla, malt.

Tastes coffee, orange, some caramel malt, cream and light cocoa. Finish is semi sweet with an orange linger. Medium body and fizzy medium carbonation.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 2/8/2017. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big nutty coffee, vanilla, honey, orange, cream, and biscuit; with light chocolate, cocoa, and herbal. Very nice aromas with good balance of coffee, vanilla, lactose, oranges, and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty coffee, vanilla, honey, orange, cream, and biscuit; with light chocolate, cocoa, and herbal. Light herbal hop and roasted coffee bitterness; with slight fruit tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, vanilla, honey, orange, cream, biscuit, chocolate, and cocoa on the finish for a while. Great robustness and balance of coffee, vanilla, lactose, oranges, and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth and creamy/bready/grainy mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 9.5%. Overall this is a great fruited imperial coffee blonde ale. All around great robustness and balance of coffee, vanilla, lactose, oranges, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Was expecting more oranges initially, but there is still nice presence; with great overall balance of all flavors. Captures the cappuccino vibe in the flavors extremely well. A very enjoyable offering.

I picked up a bottle of Odd Side Ales Orange Mocha Beer-a-cino for $2.39 at The Lager Mill. I'm always down to try a new beer from Odd Sides and this one seems interesting, so lets see how it goes. 2017 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a teku.

A- The label is nice, it goes well with the beer and it's a little eye catching. It poured a nice orange color that took on more of a brighter orange color when held to the light and it had a little over a fingers worth of bubbly and fizzy off white head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left hardly any spotty lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking beer, but I wish it had a little better, head, retention and lacing.

S- The aroma starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the coffee being the first show up and it imparts a somewhat lighter black coffee aroma with not much chocolate so it isn't to mocha like and it goes into the malts which impart a grainy, pale malt, bready and sweet malt like aroma. Up next comes a little bit of doughy yeast and that leads into the orange which is noticeable and it's a little on the lighter side and it imparts an orange rind like aroma. This beer has a nice aroma, but I was hoping the orange and chocolate would come through more.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma, but stronger and it starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the coffee still being the first to show and this time it imparts more of a mocha aspect with the chocolate showing up too. Up next comes a little bit of doughy yeast and it's followed by the malts which impart all the same aspects that they did in the aroma with the grainy and pale malts seeming to stick out the most. Towards the end comes the orange which is a little on the lighter side and it imparts an orange rind like flavor. On the finish there's a lighter amount of bitterness with a mocha like aftertaste and a little bit of lightly tart orange. This is a pretty nice tasting beer, it delivers on the mocha aspect, but I wish the orange would stick out a little more.

M- Smooth. pretty crisp, a little prickly, a little on the sweet side, on the thicker side of being medium bodied with a higher amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel works pretty well with this beer, I have no complaints.

Overall I thought this was a pretty nice beer and I thought it was a solid example of the style, it came pretty close to really living up it's name, but it would have really lived up to it's name if the orange showed up a little more. This beer had ok drinkability, I think one would be perfect amount for me, more than that and it might start to wear one me. What I like the most about this beer is the taste, it's nice and it delivers on the mocha aspects. What I like the least about this beer is the aroma and that the orange didn't show up a little more in the taste, those are my main complaints. I might buy this beer and I don't think I would turn one down. It's not a must try, but if your looking for a Blonde ale with mocha flavor and a little bit of orange then it's worth checking out and it reminds me of bean flicker with just a little bit of orange. All in all I liked this beer, but I didn't love it and think with a little more work on the taste and aroma and this could be a very nice beer. It's not my favorite Odd Side beer and it's a solid example of the style. Nice job guys, this is solid and unique.
