S - Aroma is vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate and coffee.

T - The taste is dark chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla and light bourbon.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a crisp dry finish.

O - This is a nice BBA stout. The flavors are on point and the alcohol very well hidden.

The smell is a bourbon dessert dream with the cinnamon, vanilla and chocolate playing off the bourbon brightly and lightly. Taste is cloyingly sweet, with cinnamon being unbalanced from booze and vanilla. Feel is choppy and thin, booze is swallowed up by the cinnamon. Disappointing, not in that it is bad, but it had more potential from the smell.

12 oz bottle from drunkenmess poured into smokestack snifter.

Really nice chocolate-y brown with shades of licorice black and a firm creamy brown/red head of 2 fingers. It recedes and sticks firm at 1 offset finger.

I get aromas of primarily metal, followed by cinnamon, then slight coffee/roasted malts and vanilla. Very very faint hints of bourbon.

Flavor brings hot, stinging bourbon; an undercurrent of overly sweet vanilla; caramel and chocolate swirl pudding; roasted malts; a touch of red hots; and then some underlying cherry infection notes.

Feel is creamy and very hot. Tons of alcohol dryness and lingering resins (though not detectable taste-wise) on the tongue.

Overall, OddSide has done better BBA stuff. This got hit with a little bug and is a touch infected, but thankfully doesn't take over the flavor. A decent beer overall.

Always delighted when a new barrel aged beer shows up within raiding distance across the WI border. 12 oz. bottle that I hope will make me sleep tonight. I’ve never had this problem before. It’s bloody fucking annoying. I’m going to start tearing the heads off of box elder bugs pretty soon. Bottle dated good by three days after bottling. I kid, I kid.

Turns dark with a big, fluffy head, which always inspires a bit of caution in Odd Side brews, eh? All I get in the nose is cinnamon. Too much cinnamon is the death knell of a beer. Ehh.

Cap de Night tastes like it has Black Tuesday levels of alkeehaul. I can feel the inside of my breastbone being etched as I type. Next, too much cinnamon, which after a couple of ounces is stirring up a rousing bout of heartburn. Healthy dose of bourbon helps temper some of disappointment, with just a touch of roast & no vanilla within 100 yards. Should come in a shot glass with Pepto Bismol chaser.

I think my insides are going to ache tomorrow because of this beer, hopefully I don’t die of acid reflux at 2 AM. The cinnamon overdose just destroyed whatever this was meant to be. Bad.

Appearance: black body with a thin cap of medium brown head.

Smell: Lots of chocolate. Hint of vanilla. Hint of cinnamon. Not much barrel to be noted.

Taste: Its a sweet stout. Chocolate is the main flavor. Vanilla is overly sweet and slightly cloying / slight artificial tasting. Cinnamon comes off slightly bitter. Not much barrel at all; practically non-existent barrel notes.

Mouthfeel: Thin body, but on par for Oddsides though. Low and appropriate levels of carbonation. No booze.

Overall: Not bad, but something is slightly off about this beer. Can't quite put my finger on what it is. Not up to the usual Oddsides quality. Just meh.

Kind of disappointed by this.

On the nose, I got hardly any cinnamon. Mostly just chocolate, and coffee even though coffee isn't one of the adjuncts

I don't taste any vanilla, and the cinnamon is barely there. If this was a blind taste test, I would probably say this was some sort of coffee/chocolate stout because those are the only things I taste. Burnt coffee and dark chocolate. The barrel is in the background, but it's pretty muted.

Overall, not really that great. Can't rate this higher because of how terribly muted the cinnamon and vanilla are. I'm glad this was only a 12oz bottle, no way I could finish more than this + it was only $5, so it wasn't a big investment either.

Bottled 8/29/18; drank 10/10/18 @ the Yarchives.

Midnight black appearance.

A rough pour yielded a big, noisy dark tan head; frothy lace.

Cinnamon, cream, milk chocolate & light roast coffee bean notes in the nose.

Thick, creamy mouthfeel.

Cinnamon & chocolate syrup flavors up front; cream & booze heat notes on the finish.

Too cinnamon forward for me, but overall not bad.

750 ml bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours dense nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Noticeable cinnamon flakes floating around, but still impressive head retention. Aromas of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, marshmallow, molasses, toffee, fudge, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, coconut, pepper, dark fruits, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Some increasing booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, and bourbon barrel notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, marshmallow, molasses, toffee, fudge, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, coconut, pepper, dark fruits, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Light roast/char bitterness and cinnamon/bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, marshmallow, molasses, toffee, fudge, bourbon, toasted oak, dark bread, coconut, light smoke/char/molasses, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, and bourbon barrel flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet and cinnamon/bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying sweetness or acrid/astringent roast/oak flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from roast/char bitterness, cinnamon spice, and oak tannins. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Slightly slick, sticky, chalky, and tannic. Alcohol is well hidden; a mildly increasing warmth of 12%, with minimal barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged spiced imperial stout! all around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV. Super rich and decadent malt complexity; with perfectly integrated/balanced bourbon barrels and spice flavors. I was afraid this would be really spice heavy as the BBA Imperial Mayan is when fresh, but glad to see that it's not. A highly enjoyable offering.
