12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 9/4/2018. Pours dense opaque dark brown/black color with a small fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, marshmallow, fudge, brownie batter, nuts, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness. Some barrel booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/black/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, marshmallow, fudge, brownie batter, nuts, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness. Light herbal/roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, marshmallow, fudge, brownie batter, nuts, dark/brown bread, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/black/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mildly increasing warmth of 13%, with minimal barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/black/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV, with the mellowly bitter/chared/tannic/drying finish. Insanely rich malt complexity, with amazing barrel presence/integration. Not overly boozy/tannic on barrels. Definitely their thickest stout yet, but the tannic barrels and charred malts keep the sweetness in check. A highly enjoyable offering and amazing style example as expected.

Canned on 1-11-21.

A - Dark black pour with uber thin toffee colored lacing and little to no carbonatioon.

S - Chocolate roast, a tad bit of dark fruit, dark chocloate. For as much alcohol in this, it's not overly detectable on the nose.

T - Roasted cocoa, chocolate malt, light char, oak, and light Bourbon. Chocolate roast, chocolate char, some dark fruit, oaky, Bourbon, dark bakers chocolate, and finishes with a lingering chocolate char bitterness with some alcohol heat and baked cocoa. There's a little bit of molasses buried underneath the char as well.

M - Definite heat on the way down, to be expected for the ABV. Thick and silky with a sticky malt residue on the lips.

O - A slow sipper, but very enjoyable and full of chocolate roasty goodness. Recommended.

Deep, dark, viscous liquid with mahogany edges and an initial cola-esque head of fizzy mocha bubbles.

Massive raisin, cherry, fig, and berry on the nose, smothered in dark chocolate, with red wine tannins and some lovely oak notes. Missing some barrel character that could take it over the top.

Taste follows but is even more tutored towards dark fruits and dark chocolate. Sweet up front, then a little toasty and bitter, and surprisingly dry (given the start) at the end. Maybe even a little buttery.

Medium-bodied for a stout of this size, not sticky but plenty coating and velvety. Zero carbonation.

My god, possibly the most dark fruit and raisin-heavy beer I've ever had. Pretty remarkable that there are no adjuncts in there -- just base stout and barrel-aging. One sip I'm overwhelmed by the chocolate-covered fruits and sweetness, the next I'm absolutely digging it. A very fun one to sip on slowly on a quiet night.

Appearance: Utter black in color, with a small and coarse tan head, which, while not abundant, manages to retain fairly well. Very fine-beaded lacing, resembling grains of sand adorns the glass wall in a slightly irregular, though unbroken ring. Even before a very strong light, there are only hints of deep amber highlights at the bottom of the glass.

Aroma: An intense note of dark chocolate, sweet cocoa, vanilla nuts, and wood. There is also sweet and spicy alcohol, which would seem inevitable at an ABV of 14.6 percent. Surprisingly, the bourbon presence, seems almost understated. While present, it is not "over the top", as is often seen with bourbon barrel-aged examples.

Taste: Opens with a strong wave of bittersweet chocolate, espresso and cocoa, soon followed by sweet and spicy alcohol. An undercurrent of wood lurks throughout. A little later in the taste, the bourbon presents, much more assertive than it was in the aroma. Late in the taste, bitter chocolate, bourbon, and wood vie for dominance. The wood notes linger on well past the close.

Mouth feel: Smooth, very full and soft, with a mere suggestion of carbonation. It could be perhaps a touch fuller.

Drinkabilty/notes: Outstanding, a true sipper for a cold and dark autumn day. Very well made, high ABV examples of this style can often be a train wreck of flavors, but Deleterious is incredibly well balanced. Would pair exceptionally well with rich chocolate desserts, or as a standalone dessert.

Presentation: Packaged in a twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a la Fin du Monde Chalice.

Look- jet black, tiniest lace of bubbles around the edge of the glass. Smell- raisins, strong molasses, cocoa, and vanilla. Taste- Very sweet backed up by strong oak notes and dark malt. A little bit of coffee comes through to balance out the sweetness. Feel is medium, not super thick, not as thin as it looks. I'd like a little more carbonation but that is really common in barrel aged stouts. Overall a great beer. If I was being honest its flavor profile has a lot in common with most of the BCBS releases. I gave it an overall 4.25 but if taste is what matters I'd give it a little higher. Definitely buy again.

12 ounce single from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids from Nov 2019 trip when borders could still be crossed.
Pours deep black with scant light brown head.
Aroma of chocolate, fudge, vanilla, mild espresso note and certainly a bit of booziness.
Tastes of rich dark chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, vanilla, and smooth bourbon. Earthy bittersweetness.
Medium full mouthfeel with moderate carbonation - chocolate bourbon sweetness with a warming booziness.
Simple and spectacular.
