Why bother? let me repeat that, for all young, startup breweries out there. Why bother? You know, I really wanted to like this, sounds perfect. Who doesn't like pineapple, hops, and milk? You need an actual review? Ok, looks, smells, and tastes like maybe pineapple? no defining malt, yeast or anything for that matter. Boring, mediocre, and now I don't want to try any of your other beers. Again, why bother?

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 4/16/2019. Pours very hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Thick spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big juicy pineapples, red grapefruit, tangerine, orange juice, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, light peppercorn/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of pineapples, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, vanilla, lactose, and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy pineapples, red grapefruit, tangerine, orange juice, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, light peppercorn, pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness; and slight fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of pineapples, red grapefruit, tangerine, orange juice, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of pineapples, citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops, vanilla, lactose, and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, fairly sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy/tangy mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is an excellent fruited milkshake IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of pineapples, citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops, vanilla, lactose, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish. Nicely soft feel, and not overly aggressive. Feels like a lot of Mosaic/Citra. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops/fruit; with a great balancing vanilla, lactose, and wheat/oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example as expected. A bit more bitter/drying than the base beer(as the strawberry was), but no real complaints otherwise.

The CANQuest (tm) is rolling along at high speed & now, having been duly CANspired by @Jimmy_Kneecaps I am taking a walk on the Odd Side, next to Lou Reed.

From the CAN: "India Pale Ale Brewed with Lactose, Vanilla and Pineapple Added."

I Crack!ed open the vent on this CAN with a modicum of trepidation. I don't like milk, pineapple is okay in small doses but I had already had some enCANters with it on this day & you had best bring the hops like a CANbined bunny/kangaroo/frog! I beCAN with a slow, gentle Glug, but once its turbidity became evident, I let it free-flow with impunity. It rose up to me my perceived ChANgenge only to realize that it was wildly outclassed & sat back down. I got a moment's worth of two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head out of our CANsense, but its CANowardniness caused it to fall back more quickly than I would have liked. Color was a cloudy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose did not smell like milk, thankfully, but neither did it smell like either pineapple or vanilla.

Notice the grammarian's shift in that last sentence. "Neither + not/nor" & "either/or". It is not a mix 'n' match of "neither/or" & "either/nor". Impressive, even for me, he remarked highly immodestly.

It smelled like a simple mélange of fruity sweetness that just never does it for me. It is within the range for the style, so fair dinkum, but still … Mouthfeel was medium with the softness that lactose imparts. It just always seems to me like cheating. The taste had perhaps the oddest tart/sweet/bitter CANglameration that I have ever come up against! It was like nothing wanted to get along with anything else! Jangly did not begin to describe its inherent dissonance that never resolved itself in CANsonence.

I am pulling out all of the stops today!

I could not reCANcile one against another with the vanilla really being the odd adjunct out. The pineapple & the lactose MIGHT have carried the day on their own, but vanilla was an unwanted/unwarranted/unneeded third leg in this unholy ménage a trois! I CAN't believe how insynChANous this beer was. Finish was a dissonant bitterness leading to a CANscendo of regret & unhappiness. YMMV.
