Bluegrass Breakfast is a whole lot of flavors in a beer. It is very dark and sweet, and the pecans come through halfway in. Brunch sweets in a glass. It was also a collaboration with local liquor store, Binny's.

Pours black with a finger of dark-khaki foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is a shotgun blast of flavors - boom! Pecans, molasses, maple syrup, vanilla bean, coffee, brown sugar and bacon with hearty roasty, toasty, nutty and earthy malts. Bourbon booze oozes out from the creases and crevices, upping the heat in each whiff. Big time aroma here, it's a full on rain cloud of notes. Flavor profile is just as dense and just robust, hitting notes of pecans, molasses, maple syrup, bacon, brown sugar, caramel, toffee, chocolate and roasty coffee. Malts are pushed a little further into the background here, allowing the sugary notes to sign and dominate. Malts are roasty and toasty with bits and pieces of nutty and earthy malts as well. Finally - booze is delivered by way of bourbon. All together, this a full bed & breakfast meal from a down-home, good-cooking, booze-brunching cook. In fact, it may be too much for some. Mouth feel is dense and thick with a hearty velvety texture that nearly chewable. Overall, everything folds together well here, although it is an astonishing amount to process. Summation? It's sweet and boozy.

Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 12oz bottle.

Bottled 11/18/19; drank 12/23/19 @ the Yarchives.

Black appearance. A rough pour yielded a big tan head; strong, frothy tree-rung lace.

Cream, maple syrup, pecan & oak notes in the nose.

Creamy, thick mouthfeel.

Cream, milk chocolate, pecan & mild bacon flavors up front; mild maple syrup & mild alcohol heat on the finish.

Bold & tasty. I'd have another!

Sep 2020 Review
12oz bottle dated in Sep, I think. Poured into a chalice.

Pour: black with 1/2 finger deep tan head. Minimal lacing but a nice thick ring. 3.0

Nose: pretty much missed it as I was eating BBQ and not really paying close attention. So, will have to wait for another bottle. 3.0 (incomplete)

Taste: chocolate, maple, oak/pecan, coffee, bourbon, hints of brown sugar and vanilla. Pretty well balanced, slightly sweeter than I would like. ABV is well hidden. 3.75

Feel: not super thick but substantive and easy drinking. Moderate carbonation. 3.5

Overall: I enjoyed this but I’m not sure I’ll seek it out other than maybe one more bottle just because. Fairly well balanced. Good in most respects but not really outstanding in any respect. 3.75

Brownish black with a finger of brown foam. Smell features the maple and coffee right up front with sweet pecans and bourbon with chocolate and vanilla supporting, not too powerful though. Taste is the same with salty bacon and malt added, sweet and salty backed with booze, a gourmet breakfast but is shorter lived before being pushed along. Feel is warm, hits the sweetness before roast and general bitterness real it back in. The wife liked it

Excellent head production and retention for the style. Nice lacing. Body is darkly inviting.

Huge, deep nose. Lots of bourbon and oak, maple syrup, chocolate, vanilla, nuts, molasses, coffee, and bacon.

Super sweet and rich on the palate; a touch hot on the finish. Maple syrup, oak, molasses, red grapes, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, pecan. Not much bacon presence; it's overwhelmed by the sweetness.

Despite the back-end heat, this is otherwise quite easy to drink despite the ABV. Thick and creamy.

A touch too sweet, lacking balance, but otherwise quite delicious.

12 ounce bottle into a snifter. Bottled 11/18/19, had 9/10/20.

Pours a dark brown, a little garnet on the edge, mostly opaque, with a quarter inch foamy head and some spotty cling. Aromas of bourbon, coffee, chocolate, malt, some bacon, light maple, some char. A little bit smoky with a light, nutty aroma. Mostly the same flavors- bourbon, chocolate, coffee, some bacon, vanilla, light pecans and maple, less malt than the nose, molasses when warm. A little bit sweet, but not overly so. Smooth, a very good full body, well carbonated.

Strong, flavorful barrels, the bacon shows pretty well- although it fades a bit, lots of coffee. The pecans and maple have less impact than expected. Overall, it mostly delivers on its promises and it’s well balanced and very enjoyable.
