I was lucky enough to have a 4 day old Zombie Dust and a 6 day old Citra this week and I've got to say that Citra blew me away. I didn't have them side by side but in my opinion, Citra is what all the hype makes you believe Zombie Dust tastes like.

Even if you think I'm out of my mind, Citra is an awesome beer.

Excellent beer. Up there with Two hearted (different style. Calm down, snobs). Bottled conditioned is a huge plus. Would I purchase this again? That's a no-brainer. My go to for drinking in GH state park (lol). Great job, Oddside.

Reminds me of zombie dust in aroma. Resin, pine, grapefruit, mango, pineapple emerge, adding with orange, lemon zest, and outreach. Really juicy fruit salad notes.

Flavor reveals a hint of grapefruit tartness, then bitter pith, which lingers into the moderately bitter, resiny finish. The toasted, bready malt doesn't lend much sweetness to counter. Muddled tropical fruit surfaces late.

If the flavoring hops were more citra-like, matching the aroma, this would be killer. Little more bitter than I prefer.

Thanks to Another6Pack for this one! 12 oz bottle into a teku.

Appearance: Pours a dark orange color. The head is a finger high and white in shade. It has a soft yet bubbly texture and decent retention. Some lacing sticks to my glass, also. (3.75)

Smell: I pick up some decent tropical fruits, along with some slight grassiness. The nose in general doesn't seem remotely bitter. Letting it open up will reveal some confectioner's sugar notes, as well as defining some grapefruit hop qualities. Maybe it's a bit too heavily malted for my tastes, but it's a genuinely well-balanced pale ale. And I do mean 'balanced', not just 'LOTS OF MALT LOL'. (3.5)

Taste: Vibrant tropical fruit notes open it up. Mainly, I pick up melon, mango, pineapple, and guava. This beer has just the right amount of bitterness: it's subtle on the back end, helping to balance the beer's sweetness some, yet never ridiculous. Even still, the aforementioned sweetness is light on the crystal malt (THANK CRIPES) and heavier on crackery pale malt. Some finishing diacetyl is slightly annoying, otherwise this is a tasty pale ale. (3.75)

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied at first, it dries out well post-swallow. There's a light lingering sweetness left, but it works well the flavor profile. Carbonation is rather gentle - luckily this beer is naturally dry enough to not render this problematic. (3.5)

Overall: It's not perfect, but damn is this enjoyable. It brings the fruity notes I like, keeps the bitterness low (but not zero), and isn't overloaded with malt sweetness. Basically, a great every day drinker...now if only I could somehow get Odd Side to distribute to MD... (3.75)

3.67/5: Well it shows off Citra nicely, that's for sure

Pours a slight hazed peach infused lighter golden with a nice half finger tight head atop.A good shot of ripe citrusy hops hit ya in the nose alone some deep caramel malts,a nice mix of the two.Starts out with a big splash of citrusy and grassy hops then a diacetyl butteriness comes in along with some toasted grain in the finish.Alot going on for a "smaller" beer, very sessionable and flavorful.

On tap at the Park Bar in Detroit. Pours a pale-amber, slightly orange color with a white head that sifts down to a thin cover within minute. Aroma, as expected, full of citrus hops, very, very heavy mango and pineapple, nearly a "tropical" smelling beer - very nice and inviting. The bitter aroma from the hops is present, but is cut down quite a bit by the sweetness from the citrus-side of things. The taste combats with a little more of a bitter edge than the nose would have you believe, but the citrus notes are still there, with the pineapple and mango now joined by maybe some tangerine. Bitterness has a spike in the middle, but still never gets too high or overwhelming, which is pretty much what you're looking for in an APA - hop presence, but not necessarily dominance. Medium body, slightly sticky, carbonated well.

Very solid APA from Odd Side Ales. I've only had three of their beers, but I've enjoyed them thoroughly - all very unique and well-crafted. I need to try more.

My first Odd Side Ales brew. Great golden orange color with red hues. Hoppy burst up front on the palate and nose than followed by a blanket of malt. Not bad. I would like to try more.

If you want to taste the essence of citra hops, this is the beer.

Pours an orange-tinged golden brown with one finger of off-white head. Head leaves some decent lacing. Smell is very nice citra hops, giving both citrus pulp and zest. Faint malt aroma. Taste also has nice juicy citrus as well as bitter citrus zest. Not as bitter as Zombie Dust. Just a very nice Citra flavor that is still hoppier than many APAs. Medium mouthfeel finishes with a subtle but lingering dry bitterness. Between this and the Pineapple IPA, Odd Side is making some solid hoppy beers. Very tasty.

12 oz bottle w/o freshness or best before dating.

Pours lightly hazed medium honey amber. Light khaki head, leaving low sheeting and moderate stands of lacing.

Loads of tropical hop notes, pineapple, grapefruit, mangoes yum. Simply delicious stuff.....
