This is our flagship beer which is brewed exclusively with Citra hops. The aroma is an intoxicating bouquet of grapefruit, tropical fruit, lemon, and pine.

Pours a deep orange. Most prominent aroma is lemon. Profile is unexpected. The citrus is muted by the bread/cookie notes of the malts. This lends itself well to the feel, but takes much away from the expected citrus flavors. I was not expecting much from this, but I did expect the Citra hop to be the star …nope

Pours golden, transparent, like an old school pale ale. Some light amounts of mango on the nose. The body of this is certainly like an old school pale ale. But the kiss of citra really makes this an old school meets new school success. It blends well and works well, not over the top, with some subtlety. Very pleasant to drink.

Pours a clear, light orange with a one-finger,fluffy white head. Good lacing.
Nice citra hop smell. Grapefruit
, tangerine with good malt smell
Taste follows nose. A soft breadiness along with the pleasant citra. Candied grapefruit and tangerine. Slight pine resin.
Wonderful balance. With unexpected breadiness makes this a great one for me.

12oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $1.99. MFG 7/1/2020, so this is 40 days old. My first time having anything from this brewery.
Look: Essentially a non-hazy pale ale, you could call it barely hazy. A pretty light orange / golden color. Small bubbles slowly effervescing. A rocky white head has diminished to a thin white foam hugging the surface and sides of the glass.
Smell: Very nice aromas of grapefruit and orange peel up front, floral notes, then a lemon drop sweetness on the back end along with some generic malty notes. Some spicy, piney notes mixed in on the front end too. Really like the way that sweet lemony note comes in; overall, this aroma kind of gives me a "lemon iced tea" vibe.
Taste: Interesting. The taste follows the nose quite well. This is a chugger. Very easy up front - citrus and pine, some mild malty sweetness. Then the finish on this beer is wonderful. A nice bitterness rounds out all corners of your mouth and really leaves you with an almost unsweetened lemon iced tea dryness that has long-lingering grapefruit rind and lemon zest. In all fairness, apart from the finish, it tastes surprisingly light and I would have liked to see greater flavor impact up front and in the core as it comes off a bit watery overall.
Feel: Light to medium mouthfeel, appropriate level of carbonation. Works well for a 5.75% American Pale Ale.
Overall: It's kind of funny to call this beer a throwback, because it uses exclusively citra hops, but to me it seems that it is very much brewed in a west coast or "old school" style. This beer reminds me a bit of Daisy Cutter Pale Ale; I see a lot of similarities, but with different hops used in each beer. Would be interesting to blind taste test those two beers along with some other classic American Pale Ales like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Anchor Steam, Firestone Walker, etc. I'll pick this up again for sure, would look forward to enjoying an even fresher can!

As I said, the Left Hand Saisons segued into Chocolate-Peanut Butter Porters & Stouts, finishing up with one from Odd Side Ales. Since I had several other Odd Sides in abeyance for The CANQuest (tm), I have decided to stick with them a bit longer for CANother brewery horizontal. Once that finishes up, I will explain my next move. Viva The CANQuest (tm)!
From the CAN: "Single Hop Pale Ale": "A Single Hop Pale Ale brewed exclusively with Citra hops. The aroma is an intoxicating bouquet of grapefruit, tropical fruit, lemon, and pine."
I was curious, since some had mentioned haze while others mentioned clarity. I Crack!ed open the vent and, striving for clarity, beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. I was met with the formation of just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with good retention. Color was a gorgeous Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity on this cloudy. dreary Spring day. The Gelt Gang of Midas, Croesus & Mammon CANcurred & joined me for a taste. Nose had a pronounced citrusiness, especially of grapefruit, but lemon & orange/tangerine were also discernible. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-fill, not quite creamy, but on the approach & certainly big for an APA. The taste seemed to shift from the nose, becoming more prevalent with orange/ tangerine & grapefruit-lemon more muted. 8=O I gotta say, this was quite good for an APA, almost CANparable to an AIPA & I CAN see where that might lead to some CANfusion. I would be curious to know the malt bill since it is a single-hop. Might it be a SMaSH? Hmm. Finish was semi-dry to dry & marked not only a return of grapefruit's prevalence, but also left me with a cool, dry mintiness of pine. My, but this was pleasant! YMMV.

This brew hit me so pleasant on so many levels. What a drinkable, refreshing ipa. This is the first brew I have had from Odd Side Ales and it will not be my last. Lighter in color than a standard Ipa with some haziness. With 1 1/2 inches of head that lasted throughout. Each sip got better and better and it’s smell greatly reflected the taste. Notes of grapefruit and and other citrus flavors but not necessarily orange. Really good, refreshing Ipa coming in at about 6.6 % abv. A six pack ran me about $9 USD, so it isn’t all too expensive either.
