Black with a short-lived, thin head comprised of fine, chestnut foam. Initially there is no lacing, however, some spots show up late in the session.

A Dogfish Head snifter concentrates strong coffee that is immediately followed by dark chocolate, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The aromas are just as described on the label. Habanero follows and definitely leaves a mark. Sweetness is not to be forgotten.

The flavor falls well short of the aromatics, although all of those characteristics can still be found. The coffee and habanero are strong, while Baker's chocolate is in the distance. After some warmth, the cinnamon and nutmeg arrive. The finish is long, with modest pepper and coffee.

A medium body and a smooth hard texture of polished steel. The alcohol feels elevated, which may be due to the effects of the pepper. The pepper's heat permeates the tongue, cheeks, and throat. Carbonation is fine and modest.

I very much enjoyed this beer. The coffee, chocolate, and pepper all add flavor, while the pepper heat is pleasantly strong. This is definitely a peculiar and successful experiment.

These habanero beers come in all levels of heat - this one is at the upper end of what I have experienced so far...

My very first beer I ever homebrewed was a Jalapeno Saison - it was delicious. But one of things I did was NOT include the seeds. Well, this beer seems to have included some or all of them as it was the "hottest" of all the habanero beers I have had to date. Though it was still tasty, it did somewhat detract from the overall experience. Nonetheless, I suggest all to give it a try - especially if you're into this style - a must-do.

Pours out of the can a deep brown with no light passing through it. I can tell from the head, one finger and dissipating quickly, that it's not particularly thick. Smells like obvious cinnamon and chocolate. Taste follows the nose perfectly, with the addition of some coffee flavor. Mouthfeel is rather thin but not bad. An enjoyable cinnamon stout.

12 oz can served in a Tervis at the Spring 2023 Albino Skunk Music Festival.

Appearance. Looks like strong black coffee but with a large beige head.

Mouthfeel. Smooth, near full body with medium-light carbonation and moderate+ heat from the chilies.

An enticing aroma foreshadows the excellent flavor. Notes of Jalapeños, chocolate, roasted nuts, toasted grains, cinnamon, and coffee mix well together and with the thankfully subtle nutmeg.

Overall. A very well crafted, low ABV version of a style represented by some outstanding imperial versions like Mexican Cake.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Complicated code no help in determining age.

Looks pretty good, black as black body with a thick creamy tan head. Thick rings of lacing.

Nice chocolate and coffee aroma.

On tasting, the chocolate and coffee notes are missing. Weird. The habernero and spice mix is there, so a warming drink. No harshness or bitterness.

Mouth between medium and full, finish warming pepper and spice.

Overall, strange that the chocolate coffee notes so strong on the nose completely disappear in the taste. Not bad as a chile beer, though more than 12ozs would be a chore.

MFG? 03/07/22 (march 7)

I’ve been pushing off trying this stout for almost a year, on a cool and rainy night it finally gets a chance.

L: uncomfortably dark cola body, khaki head that absolutely explodes before going down quickly. (Probably a bad pour)

S: Cocoa powder, coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, nerds rope, and the pepper/alcohol menagerie that craft beer hasn’t quite worked out but I kinda like. It’s really dessert smelling which would normally bother me but it works great here.

T: it feels like an old Mayan woman stumbled out of a hut and gave me an odd drink made with who knows what ingredients. Like milk with mocha aftertaste that burns your throat after that. I kinda liked it.

F: has the consistency of milk, but when the pepper kicks in you notice the carbonation. Finishes like chocolate milk with too much chocolate syrup mixed in.

O: will buy again it’s the Mexican Oreos of stouts. Oreos marketing should be paying me for this review. Either way peace.

This could have been a home run with some more body and ABV.... as is, it seems....lackluster?

The flavors are just fine with the spices and heat but a bigger mouthful and some more heft would have elevated this into superstar status...

Think Abraxas...

But Abraxas it aint...it could be...but it ain't. There's not enough big-ness to the beer...at 6% you can drop the heat and make it a flagship...

Overall not a bad offering but with the low ABV, this feels like a gimmick...

Day 24 of the advent calendar 2021

Deep and opaque brown, not a lot of head stuck around after pouring.
Chocolate on the nose but not much else.
The first flavor that hits me is coconut. Maybe roasted chocolate tastes like that. The coffee, Thank God! is very understated. Sweet and almost syrupy. Then it finishes with a light habanero burn.
But WHY? Why adulterate your brew with added flavors when you can make a much more impressive and drinkable one with the four traditional beer ingredients?
