I walked into Van Ness Liquors to pick up some special grub for New Year's Eve. Thinking they would have a special selection of beers I relied heavily on the store to have what I wanted. Needless to say, I was surprised to find that they had much of the same selection I see a lot of places in the area that is trying to sell craft beers.

I think this place uses the same distributors as other stores in DC (Whole Foods - Tenleytown, Cleveland Park Liquor & Fine Wines). The choices are kind of limited, for example, Dogfish head beers are the same at other locations (60-min, 90-min, midas, raison, and Palo santo). Other beers include, Troegs, Duvel, Lot No.3, Cottrell, Delirium, Ommegang, Harppon, Weyerbache, Stone, Flying Dog...
Macros include the usual Bud, Miller, Natty Light, Michelob, etc...

There are a few nice things about the store. The prices are reasonable and its located near an BoA ATM and right by the Van Ness Metro Red Line stop. So if you head to this area you can stop by here and pick up some stuff before heading out for the evening. The store is well lit and has a nice selection of fine wines.
