Pours a hazy orange with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, vanilla, berry, wine, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with dark fruit, vanilla, and mead flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is solid, but pretty subtle for both a barleywine and a barrel aged beer.
