Stand back. This is a beer brewed with raspberries, not a raspberry beer. The real raspberry juice we use adds something special to this wheat ale rather than taking something away. It can be, and is, enjoyed by all types of beer drinkers. It especially pairs well with fruit salads or just about any type of dessert. Or, consider it a dessert all on its own; who doesn't enjoy beer for dessert? And, just because this beer has fruit, don't think it is some powder-puff beer. Even the most rugged mountain man will enjoy this one.

Poured into a tulip, it has a thin white head and a amber orange. Smell is raspberry, slight metallic, earth, and a biscuity malt. Taste is raspberry, a bit of spice, biscuit malt, apple, metallic, and some white grape. It has a smooth creamy mouth feel with a nice moderate body.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 5/26/2015. Pours hazy deep orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of sweet/lightly tart raspberry, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with well balanced raspberry juice, pale malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of sweet/lightly tart raspberry, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raspberry, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and balance of raspberry juice, pale malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice fruited pale wheat ale style. All around good robustness and balance of raspberry juice, pale malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. The base pale wheat ale was very well done to style as well. A nicely enjoyable offering.

I am not sure what this beer is trying to be. You definitely get the sweet taste of raspberries upfront but then it gets complicated. Not picking up on the wheat aspects and instead more of an unpleasant aftertaste. Should have just kept this a raspberry only beer and called it good.

Bottle.

Very sweet and fruity. Easy drinking alone. Light. Best light raspberry beer that is not a cider.
