12oz bottle, poured into my Duvel tulip.
1787 Abbey Single covers a spectrum from lemon peel to tangerine in it's color, depending on specifics. The pure white head rises to about three fingers tall. Retention is decent, but lacing is way disappointing. The nose has an extremely clean, crisp malt presence, a little bit of apple but mostly crackers/bread. There's also a little bit of a spicy/herbal noble hop aroma kicking around, but not much. No real yeast note to speak of, and I hope the beer doesn't turn out to be as malt forward as the nose suggests it will be. I find a much better balance in the flavor. The malt is turned down a bit, and it lets the hops shine through a bit more. I can actually taste just a hint of clove from the yeast as well, but it's not as present as it should be. The body is dancing on the line between light and downright watery, but always manages to stay just on the right side. The carbonation feels very pinpoint on my tongue, pretty nice mouthfeel overall. 1787 Abbey Ale certainly isn't the most flavorful/exciting Belgian style beer I've ever had, but that's not what I think it's setting out to be either. It's very easy drinking and is something I could see my non craft drinking friends enjoy, so NJ Beer Co did a good job in that regard.

6/14....pours bright gold with light layer of white foam. Gritty pilsy nose, some citrus. Funky earthy taste lemon background. Apples too? Kind of glommed together and not quite there.

Way too foamy. Might have been a bad batch but it was just way over carbonated. Took away from a possibly good taste.

Appearance, hazy yellow with a nice off white head
Smell, somewhat hoppy buy you can smell the yeast as well.
Taste, delicious maltyness that finishes with a nice belgian yeast flavor hops are present but not the main event.
Mouthfeel, nice and light a truely great summer beer.
