Notes / Commercial Description:
Saisons have been around for ages. Traditionally brewed by Belgian and French farmers to provide refreshment during harvest. I'm guessing that flavour wasn't a main concern back then; the priority was to provide a beverage that was safe to drink, because water usually wasn't. Never the less, over time they developed a beverage chrarissed by beer geeks of the modern world. The alcohol content was low, so the workers could consume enough to keep hydrated and still perform their job: To load the barn with enough barley for next years brewing season. I bet these hardworking, humble farmers never imagined, that centuries later, their style of brewing would inspire brewers from all over the world. As all our beers, this is a very modern, you might say new world, interpretation of this style. Based on the tradition we have used a French Saison yeast, which provides a plethora of funky, earthy, very "Belgian" flavours. From there we have upped the ante a fair bit by doubling the amount of malt, and thereby the alcohol, and loaded the kettle with punchy Nelson Sauvin hops. Unlike the original, this is not a beer meant to be drunk by the gallon. Moderation is the key for full enjoyment of all great beers.

Really good saison that comes off as complex and yet simple. Aroma is almost as if it was wine barrel aged. Nothing on the bottle indicates that it was so perhaps it comes from the Nelson Sauvin Hop.I'm not sure. The beer is well balanced however with the earthy and tropical/citrus taste that comes through. Drinks light and smooth for all that is going on when you taste it initially. Finishes with a sweet turn that leaves the mouth watering a bit for more. Because of that smoothness it is very drinkable. Love to try more of this Nelson hop to get a better read of what it can do.

Pours a cloudy straw color with a very creamy, white head and plenty of lacing.
Aroma is orange and grapefruit atop a layer of hay and barnyard funk.
Taste is led by the juicy citrus flavors followed by the yeasty funk with a nice pithy, bittering finish.
Mouthfeel is medium and nearly creamy. I don not detect the alcohol at all.
Really good.

Pours out a nice cloudy golden with huge frothy head. Aroma of hay, bread, mild spices and floral essences. Taste is pure saison, mild spiciness, wholegrain bread, black pepper and hay. Mild lingering flavors and a bit of dryness.

Pours a hazy light amber with thin but dense white head, settles to a thin layer, sheet of delicate lace down half the glass. Smell: pear and grape juice, unripe peach, some funky floral/grassy...fresh-cut something. Fruit forward with a lightly doughy back, pretty mild. Taste: big fruitiness... sugary white grapes, green plum, pear and peaches in syrup, doughy/grainy back with lots of pepper and some pineapple in the finish. Finishes pretty dry, though sweet and hop bombed. Aroma is a little underperforming but it's a full flavored nelson showcase.
