On tap at Mason's Pub in Huntsville Al. Into a goblet.

A : A deep dark brown to ruby. No head at all. No lacing.

S : Dark fruits, some spice, and a layer of alcohol to the smell.

T : The dark fruits are dominant and upfront. Dots of spice, clove, peak through and the finish has a bit of a brown sugary note to it. The alcohol found in the smell is no where to be found. The word is this beer is 13% or more, 13.9% being the state limit. If so, this is amazingly well hidden. This beer is delicious.

M : Thick and syrupy with a nice tackiness. Very smooth like a well done whiskey.

D : For such a huge beer, unbelievably drinkable. I had to hold myself back to sip this huge beast.

This one only loses points for a very lackluster appearance. This one is comparable to the bigger belgian quads, very well done.

I rushed to the local pub when I heard a keg of this got put on. I got my first taste at our hometown brewfest earlier this summer.
This beer was in the works before Straight to Ale even opened and I've heard this one might be even push the limits of our 13.9ABV cap.

from cell phone notes
a- pours a dark murky brown, transluscent bodering on opaque.  had a surprising amount of cream colored head, but as expected died down to near nothing.

s- rich caramel with evident sweetness. strong dried fruit esters mix with a bit of booze, with tones of vanilla and wood.

t- like the nose, a big rich caramel sweetness hits up front. the dark, dried fruit esters are still very influential and again meld with softer tones of oakey vanilla. very little hop influence but there is a bit of a bitter backbone.  the bitterness never challenges the persistent sweetness that makes this beer into a decandant desert type beer.  the big ABV is incredibly tame.  I might have to question the brewer next time I see him to confirm th +13%.  it's scary well hidden.

m- thick, chewy, sticky.  great adjectives for a strong beer. a nice mellow carbonation is present enough to give an even fuller feel.  only the slightest alcohol warming.

d- very good,  if pours of this weren't $7 a pop I would have drank this all night. the sweetness is a bit relentless and I would imagine it would weigh on you after a few pints. but I could be wrong.
