Our Tripel was inspired by the hard working Artisan brewers in monasteries across Belgium. It is said that the Belgian Tripel is regarded by the Belgian ale drinker as a style itself. Our Tripel is a pale colored ale made with Pilsen malt and a traditional addition of Belgian candy sugar, then hopped with German Noble and Saaz hops. This ale has a light malt nose and a ubtle hop aroma.

Bottle poured into a nonic

Bright yellow liquid with a big, dense, and creamy three finger white foam crown. .

Aroma is spicy phenols, clove, cinnamon

Taste is clove , with a hint of a sweet orange citrus finish.

Mouthfeel is sudsy, a hop tanginess lingers, semi dry finish

Good beer

i had really high hopes for this, but came away pretty unimpressed. the yeast is nice, and the beer overall is good from a quality standpoint, but its insanely sweet, well beyond what even a sweeter style generally permits, and it was a small doses thing for sure, despite the fact i bought the large bottle, no way i would want to drink the whole thing on my own, i was thankful to be sharing. the thing about sweetness in beer is that it can be an asset at times in different styles, things like honey character, grain richness, or even molasses or brown sugar at times, but this is just generic, flavorless sweet, almost a confectioners sugar thing, no doubt coming from some candy sugar in the recipe to get the alcohol spiked. they really should have let this ferment down quite a bit more, not sure if this is always the case or varies batch to batch, but it was a turn off for me in an otherwise good beer. tall white head on it look the part, the body is a bit hazy and maybe a shade deeper in color than the most traditional examples of the style. i smell and taste pear, red apple, and white pepper from this yeast, even a little white dessert wine, tons of sweetness though and not from the grain, really extending this long in the finish. this could maybe use some time in oak to mellow and dry out, its too much with the sweet and the alcohol hitting at the same time. i like the fuller body this has, fluffy, even creamy feeling, and nicely carbonated, maybe even bottle conditioned, without all the sweetness this mouthfeel would be awesome, but i cant get past a beer that i can actively feel rotting my teeth. lots to like and a ton of potential, a cool fruity yeast and a richer yet still lively texture on this, but to me it is fatally flawed by its sweetness. a total shame, but i could not have more than a glass of this one...

Pours a burnt orange with about a quarter inch of thin, white head. Pretty quick dissipation.

Smell: smells true to the style - some malt and also a sweetness to it - possibly caramel. Even getting hints of dried fruit, almost a cranberry aroma

Taste: pine and dried fruit - getting that cranberry from the smell, and also getting strong hints of grapes. Boozy on the finish, which I liked. Not an overly complex taste, but it actually sips really smoothly and the fruits are enough character here.

Feel: Surprisingly smooth, medium body. Great to sip on with a book or movie. Really enjoyed this offering from Moab and it’s definitely outside of the styles they typically produce

We loved to see Moab step seemingly outside there comfort zone to swing big, and we feel that they hit pretty well. This beer feels special; it is super warming, yeasty and strong. The perfect companion for a cold Belgian sunset perhaps. We want more breweries to make stuff like this.

Pours a golden white. Honeyed aroma, with a floral funk note. Hints of lavender that come on strong, but doesn't show. Found this beer to be entirely decent.

Right from the pour, I knew this was going to be good. Huge fluffy head, lasts a while too. Buttery, herbal aroma, right on target. One of the better tripels I’ve had in a while, and from the USA to boot! Good all around....

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a snifter.
LOOK: Pours with a half finger's worth of white foam that finally halves itself after two minutes. Gold in color, but has an extreme amount of cloudiness. Bubbles are subtle once head settles. Lacing is minimal.
SMELL: Mild aromas of cloves and pale malts are evident upfront. Hints of banana, pear, white grape, spicy hops, and alcohol aromas are also detectable. This combination is pretty dull. Nothing to get excited about.
TASTE: Initial taste is of mild clove and pale malt flavors along with a hint of spicy hops. Subtle fruit flavors that were previously mentioned in the smell enter immediately after as clove flavors grow from mild to strong. A hint of alcohol finishes off the final taste along with a hint of unpleasant medicinal flavor (something similar to cough medicine) as all previous flavors persist.
FEEL: Medium-bodied with subtle carbonation. The finish is slightly dry.
NOTE: I don't see how this had such high reviews. Perhaps the taste was altered too much because this beer made the trip all the way from Utah to Texas. There are too many variables to consider. But whatever the case, it just wasn't that great for me.

Poured a golden, straw, hazy color with two fingers of rocky white head. Some decent bubble steams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good-looking layered foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Great retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled Belgian cloves, banana, Noble hops, sour fruit, caramel, candied sugar, green apple, green grape, light plum, spoiled milk and some lingering booziness. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted similar to the nose, maybe slightly better. Got Noble hops, candied sugar, slightly spicy Belgian cloves, banana chips, green apple, slight mint, caramel, honey and grassy notes. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, acidic finish. (Feel - 3.75)

A decent Tripel, but nothing too special. (Overall - 3.75)
