UK inspired IPA in strength, and US influenced with Citra Mosaic and Centennial hops. Notch does not refer to this as a "Session IPA" as lower ABV IPAs have been available in the UK for over 100 years. It's nothing new, it's simply an IPA.

I don't usually like oat malt in an IPA, but the other two barley malts are so tasty I found this low ABV served at Maxie's as the Shucker's Special on draft a very tasty drink. Went real well with oysters! Very fine head retention and good lacing. The citra and mosaic malts could have been pronounced more, but the malt/hop balance in this gentle MA ale is well worth a pint at your favorite half-shell happy hour. Mouthfeel is wonderfully full and thoroughly occupying: just the thing when a Malpeque wants to swim into your chops!

Well, it looks like I just can’t stay away from Notch! I didn’t go back to the brewery for this one, but I was very happy to find it at my local liquor store. Time to find out how they do with a style much more hoppy than they’re known for

Pours a mostly clear yellow gold with 3 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing

This is dank enough in the nose that you’d assume this is a regular strength IPA. I’m picking up on aromas of fresh pine, grapefruit zest, herbal hops, biscuity malt, herbal hops, and light mango

It also retains everything in taste, just packed into a lighter base. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting lemon zest, crackery malt, white pepper, herbal hops, and light grapefruit. The swallow brings notes of white pepper, crackery malt, floral hops, orange zest, and light pine

A light body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a crisp and zesty beer. Finishes dry with a nice firm malt character to support the brighter notes

Once again, Notch impresses me. Not that this is necessarily an impressive style to begin with, but what they do with it is cool

Poured from 2 week old can into tulip glass.
Light orange with a very slight haze and virtually no head.
Very light nose of esters and citrus.
Very one dimensional on the palate. Some light citrus and fleeting tropical notes dominated by the mosaic and centennial hop flavors.
Not objectionable and I like session beers but this misses the spot on every level.

This is one of the best beers in the world in my opinion. Is the most refreshing, flavorful beer without being too filling or at a higher ABV. Goes down very smooth. Absolutely nails the idea of what a session IPA should taste like. Poured a nice amber color into a frosty glass. Small head. I let it sit for a couple minutes. Tastes of citrusy fruity hops come into play as well as the pine flavor. However the tropical hops dominate. Goes down smooth and is in no way unflavored.

Pours a lightly chill hazed golden color with a small thumb sized whitish head some spotty lace left behind.

Aroma is crisp fruitiness citrus and tropical mix mango, nice orange notes and very light spiciness.

Taste is like the nose nice orange dominating light citrus bitterness with some lighter tropical fruit sweetness , finish is lightly spicy herbal like with some light rind thrown in. Easy drinking lighter beer with good flavor and lighter bitterness kick, an easy sessionable ale for sure.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp with carbonation being spot on.

Overall a nice brew nothing to knock it for.
