There are some pros and cons about this historical watering place situated in Capitol Hill. I have been coming to this place since 2001 especially during the earlier years as they had ten cents buffalo wings on Tuesday nights. That was a big plus about this place. This place is very large with three bars total (about 12 beers on tap at each bar) with one of the bars being downstairs which is usually empty except on busy days. There's pool table and dart boards and a large tv to boot downstairs. They have Belgian beer specials once a week I think and their offerings are usually of good quality. I had Hopslam on tap and all three bars had it on tap which I found amazing! I am definitely coming back here for Hopslam on tab every year. Food and service are mediocore at best and I will not eat there again even the chicken wings gone downhill. The bartenders are standoffish and not very kind. But I cannot say the same with the waitress I had recently. Overall, a neat place that burned down once recently due to a fire - the old place had rugby scarfs and presidential pins/memorabila all over the place. The restored place managed to salvage some of those items and added new pins and stuff.

Another regional hang-out, just off of the Hill on Pennsylvania SE. Either Capital South on the metro or a long hike across the Capitol from Union Station.

Atmosphere: The Lounge, which rebounded nicely from those successive fires a few years back. The main entrance features a long bar and seating. Darkly lit, the bar is adorned with political memorabilia. Downstairs a cigar bar lurks with a couple of tap handles too.

Quality: Friendly barstaff and waitstaff that, depending on the time of night, runs a little thin. The establishment is clean, if not darker. The warm feel is inviting.

Service: I've had no issues. Service is generally fast and friendly, a good ear if needed.

Selection: 12 or so beers on tap, including Capitol Amber, a house brew made especially for, well, the house. Plenty of craft on that list, at least 8. A strong bottle selection, moderately priced, is a nice compliment to the tap offerings.

Food: I've only ever ordered finger food, greasy pub grub types. All were good passable to good.
