Price gouge city... Single bottles of Bourbon County Barleywine for $15. After hearing that I left without buying anything. This is more of a convenience store than beer store. Whole Foods is literally a block away, and has more beers at cheaper prices. For example, Lagunitas Sucks was $12.99 here and $10.99 at WFM. Also the whiskey selection was pretty sad, not even 10 bottles.

There was a guy stocking that asked if I was looking for anything, although the cashiers ignored me after I walked in and said hello.

Around 75 beers total here, nothing too interesting really. Maybe the tourists don't mind paying a few extra bucks, but why bother when Binnys and Whole Foods are so close?

Having been here three or four times already, this last visit (12/23/10) was definitely unique. I enjoyed meeting one of the co-owners of the store, Manny (sp?), who was a great guy and very excited about the world of craft brews. Manny and his business partner purchased from this store from previous owners who didn't care much for craft beers or their own inventory (including spirits & wine) in general. After a few disturbing stories of the past, I became very impressed with their plans to expand their current selection and making the store more 'craft beer' friendly.

You'll find lots of craft beers (like Stone, FFF, and The Bruery) that are really hard to get at Binny's and other big name stores. I say once they expand their selection, this will definitely be one of my favorite small stores to check out when I want a hard-to-find beer. Other available craft beers include, Duvel, Brouwerij Huyghe, Dogfish, Bells, to name a few. They are also trying to get their hands on Founder's Brewing Co. beer soon as well.

The service is usually very helpful and they use the BA Beer Shelf Talkers to proudly display their top-notch brews. Overall a good establishment and nice owners. I'll have to come back and re-review the place in a few months after they re-stock and change their interior setup to accommodate more craft beers.

This is basically a wine shop that a carries a small, but well-rounded, selection of craft beer. The Great Lakes regional breweries are well-represented, but not always with the newest releases. There's a lot of stuff from The Bruery and The Lost Abbey and their Stone selection is steadily improving.

The pluses for me are convenience (right in the middle of River North, a block from where I work) and the prices. Nothing is marked up higher than the liquor superstores like Binny's and Lush, and some things, especially the locals and Stone, are a bit cheaper than they'd be in those stores.

Service is pretty non-existent; it's a small store and the one guy that's usually there seems way more into the wine than the beer. Anyway, if you're in the neighborhood, it's worth stopping by, but don't go out of your way.
