Pours are dark gold, similar to a traditional Bohemian pils or Maibock, with an energetic head that shrinks but never goes away entirely. Aroma is fantastic: that "Normandy cidre funk" aroma with anise, sweet honey, honeydew rind, black licorice, maybe sarsaparilla, very slight eucalyptus... just a lot of potentially strong herbs that seem to entice the senses but never overpower.

The mouthfeel is medium, a bit creamy and a little cloying. Here the "herbal" characteristic of the beer may be a little bit too much, at least more than the typical Breakside subtle touch. Definitely tannic, and though it may be from the barrel to me it seems more vegetal, like tannins from tea leaves.

I think the flavor is very good, but a little overpowering. Overall a very good example of a rare (I've never heard of an aquavit braggot combo before) style that can push the boundaries a bit and challenge the senses.
