Picked up a bomber from the Craft Beer Hop Stop in late October for $4.99. No bottling date visible.

Beer poured golden with a beautiful white head that is still hanging around.

Nose is a moderate amount of grapefruit.

Taste is grapefruit forward over a light to medium pale malt base emphasizing a pithy finish.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and refreshing.

Overall a very nice beer that is worthy of a shot.

I'm still learning to love the IPA but if I'm thinking IPA this is what it tastes like. Not so hoppy my face turns inside out and only bitter enough to make me want another.

New one in this area--fresh bomber as a Christmas gift.

Bright clear golden brew with one finger head. Citrus all the way. Crisp clean on the finish and super easy going down. Glad some folks making good IPAS under 7%

Pours with a slight haze, golden with a slightly orange hue.

Nose is big on grapefruit pith with a pineapple to guava tropical note and even a little blueberry in back.

Flavor is a little more reliant on the grapefruit, but the notes from the smell all come out. Drying bitterness is strong, dank, mildly vegetal.

A nice strong bitter beer that has just a touch of sweet malt to not rip your taste buds off - but they don't come through completely unscathed.

A: Pours a clear medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate amounts of golden yellow highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense foamy very light beige head that slowly reduces to a medium to large sized patch of thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit, citrus/orange pith, tropical/mango, tropical/pineapple, and herbal hops with a lighter aroma of dank resinous hops. Underneath there are light aromas of grainy + caramel malts with a hint of sweetness.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of grainy, biscuit, and caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by the flavors of the hops - citrus/grapefruit, citrus/orange pith, tropical/mango, tropical/pineapple, and herbal. The hops impart a moderate amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Just s hint shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Initially crisp with a light amount of dryness in the finish.

O: This is really easy to drink, bordering on being a session IPA due to the mouthfeel and the well hidden alcohol (though it is just a touch too high in ABV to be a session beer). Definitely worth grabbing and definitely a very nice beer.

A- Great clarity in the body and great head retention. Good lacing. Body is a full golden in color, not too pale and not too red or dark.

S- All hops on the nose with prominent pine notes up front, followed by a more herbal scent. The end of the smell is slightly more floral, but there is just a touch of onion scent in there too.

T- The flavor follows the same path as the scent, with the exception of the onion flavor, which is a positive. Upfront, the bitterness is still heavy in the pine and cedar notes, and also displays a touch of floral notes. The middle and back end of the drink sees an increase of the pine flavors as the bitterness ramps up. Finishes with lingering bitterness on the tongue, Not much, if any, malt is detectable throughout the drink.

M- Light to average in weight, this one has just enough body to support the strong hop profile while remaining easy drinking.

Overall, this is a solid IPA if you are looking for easy drinking IPA that still packs a hop punch. Big doses of pine and lightly floral hops keep you coming back for more.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a Spieglau IPA glass.

Look is an orange yellow with a thick white head.

Aroma is orange and earthy and herbal.

Body is a little thin, but flavor completely matches aroma. Citrus and herbal earthy brightness.

Excellent beer.

NO date on the bottle, pours a huge fluffy foamy 3 finger head that keeps rising, fades semi slowly sticky messy lacing, mostly clear slight hazy pale orange color.

Nose big hops, citrus fruit, floral, juicy fruit, stone fruit peach, little tangerine, little zest, faint pine and spicy, faint cracker malt

Taste mild sweet creamy malt base, big hops, pretty bitter, little spicy hop, plenty of citrus rind, little over ripe peach and soured mango skin, little herbal spicy hop and touch floral, a little pear like tree fruit. Finish quite bitter little dry but sticky, big spicy chewy hop lingering.

Mouth is med bod, nice carb, little soft.

Overall not bad, solid ipa.

On tap at The Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a darkish orange color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells like sweet pineapple, bit of caramel malt, some sharp grapefruit, and spicy pine.

This is super wonderful. It's a little sweeter than the flagship, with more malt character. There's not too much malt though- just enough to prop up the strong hop character- pineapple, tart grapefruit and lemon. It's super tasty and I need more.

This is light bodied, moderately crisp, with a good level of carbonation.

Another great beer from these guys. They are seriously killer.

Bought a 22oz bomber at John's Market. They move a lot of Breakside, so this should be fresh enough.

Beer Advocate website says it is 6.60% abv.
Breakside website says 6.2% abv and 63 IBUs, but click on 'More Info' and it says it's 6.0% and 60 IBUs.
The label on bottle says 6.7% abv.
Hell's bells, brewing math isn't so tough !?

Pours a hazy straw, nice creamy head that lingers nicely. Rim of lacing.

Taste is mellow, a bit dry but gentle on the palate.

Solid brew, but I will stick to their IGA.

Pours an effervescent & slightly hazed gold with 2+ fingers of pearl colored head. Great head retention & lacing

S: Grapefruit & a little breadyness

T: Grapefruit, breadyness, mango up front. Mango, grapefruit, dryness & bready sweetness as this warms. Finishes with pomelo, grapefruit & a touch of tangerine & dryness

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, good balance

Tasty, easy drinking IPA, well worth a go

Grapefruit juice, zest, orange and pine. Some wheat like flavors but more biscuit malt taste. Semi dry finish. Really well balanced ipa. Nice combo of bitterness and sweetness. Another really solid brew from Breakside.

A beer that steers clear of a lot of the other traps most American IPAs fall into. Brewers sometimes become so obsessed with trying to "out hop" the competition that they forget style guidelines. What we end up with are these enormously hopped, over saturated beers that taste more like double and triple IPAs than they do singles.

This beer doesn't make that mistake.

Very balanced, I get flavors of mild dry hop resin upfront amongst notes of bitter orange and grapefruit rind. Theres a sweet malty cereal flavor on the aftertaste to even it all out. Slightly vegetal and grassy. Very refreshing and clean tasting.

The flavors are profound enough to speak for themselves without overpowering or stealing the spotlight from one another or becoming so strong that they are cloying and abrasive to your palate.

Highly sessionable and thirst quenching.

Bomber. Pours hazy medium golden, thin white head fades quickly, a few spots of lace. Light citrus n cracker aroma. Light sweet malt taste and citrus peel hops. Great balance with the citrus peel and floral grassy bitterness winning out and lasting well past the finish. Ultra dry bitter finish, light to medium oily n soft finish. Haven't had this one in a while, as good as I recall.

Pours a clear golden yellow with an inch head of fine bubbles that settle after a while. A little odd how few bubbles are coming up in the glass after pouring, particularly given the robust head. Smells of piney hops but something is a little off. Taste is piney hops with some bitterness, fairly dry. Mouthfeel is pretty watery. Overall, OK but a little disappointing given other reviews. No dating evident on the bottle, so I wonder if that is the problem. Broadside beers have just appeared in the past few weeks in 2 of the Boston area stores that I visit. Maybe there is an age or storage problem that happens in getting them to the East Coast. I bought another of their IPAs at the same store and was similarly disappointed in getting a beer that did not live up to the other ratings here.

Golden orange in color, mostly clear (slight chill haze). Thin white cap. Citrus is heavy in the nose along with a substantial pine presance. Malt aroma has a slightly toasted quality that plays off the hops very nicely. Orange and grapefruit are present in the taste along with a piney, resiny bite. Great balance with the malt. Medium-full body with medium-high carbonation. Very dry finish with well balanced bitterness.

A: The beer is relatively clear dark yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin off white collar around the edge of the glass and some lacing on the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of citrus and tropical fruit hops are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of citrus and tropical fruits—tangerines and mangos seem to stand out in particular.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very fruity for a beer that seems to be a little lighter in body compared to most IPAs. As such, it is very sessionable.

Poured from 22 oz. bottle into standard pint glass. Golden amber in color, with a slight haze. Rich, creamy, white head that receded to a nice, substantial film. The aroma hits you right away with tropical fruit, light citrus, and floral. Quite a lovely bouquet. The flavor follows suit and is hop forward - bold flavor reads the label, and I agree. There is no lack of flavor here, dank and musky with a hint of floral and citrus. Grassy notes. The mouthfeel is juicy & resinous.?Piney & citrus aftertaste. Excellent beer overall in my opinion.

Bottle: Poured a pale yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of floral hops notes with citrusy and grassy notes is wonderful. Taste is also a wonderful mix of floral hops with almost no bitterness and some grassy notes and citrusy notes with light residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Solid juicy IPA.

Very, very handsome beer. Hazy golden orange with a white head that lays down a solid curtain of lace. Impressive. Pretty gentle nose, but past that, really tasty. Hoppy, but not too over the top. Orange rind, tasty. Lingering bitter finish. Very well made, worth a try.

From bomber into a tulip glass. No freshness dating evident.

A-Pours a hazy golden-orange color with a three finger, egg shell white head great retention and copious, sticky lacing. Nice appearance.

S-Floral and citrus hops are wonderfully fragrant with some resinous pine aroma, even before the pour. The aroma is very pronounced and pleasant. Would like to know the hop bill, but the brewery’s website is virtual-less and almost useless. I suspect the normal players are present (like Cascade & Centennial) with maybe a light addition of Mosaic since I note a hint of bubblegum. Definitely more grapefruit than pine, but it is nicely dank.

T-Very well balanced yet simple. Grapefruit and piney hops are blended beautifully by delicate malt sweetness that is not cloying. A definite NW style IPA.

M-A tad light and thin and perhaps under-carbonated.

O-Very drinkable.
