Notes / Commercial Description:
Lunch Break is our hop forward session beer, built for enjoying any time of day. Whether you call this beer a Session IPA, American Pale Ale, India Session Ale, Mini IPA, or something totally different, we know that you’ll find this beer to be full of juicy, classic hop flavor with just enough malt backbone to keep things in balance. We reserve some of our favorite hops–Simcoe, Amarillo, Cascade and Centennial–to use in this beer, which gives the aroma a heady mix of lemongrass, orange marmalade, grapefruit, pine and resin. Hop heads who seek a big punch of hops in the nose need look no further!

Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a semi-bright yellow quaint orange color with a slight glossy transparency about it. Finger's worth of white foamy cap quickens to a light concave foaminess running tightly inward. Some soapy clingy foamy lace ran about the sides of the glass.
The aroma brightens with some even flowing floral hop qualities over some melon/cantaloupe sweet clean character openly riding upon some pine/resin sweet to bitterness.
The flavor leaned slightly sweet initially and then nicely balanced into an evened out bitterness right before it glided on into the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was low bodied with a nice clean embrace of the carbonation gripping appropriately to follow with the ABV as projected by the brewer. Bright citrusy to resinous and melon-like sweet finish (really damn nice!).
Overall, really nice session IPA that I would love to have again.

A: The beer is relatively clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose—oranges seem to stand out in particular. Notes of caramel malts become noticeable as the beer begins to warm up.
T: The taste has flavors of lemongrass along with notes of orange citrus along with a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a slight amount of crispness.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and is quite flavorful for a beer that is light in body and low in alcohol. It is definitely sessionable.

On tap in Greenville SC in a Gouden Carolus glass.

Clear golden-amber body with a short and weak white head.
Aroma: hops with some tropical fruits and faint hints of bread and caramel.
Flavor: largely follows the aroma. Mild-moderate bitterness.

Feel: the body is medium; medium carbonation.

Overall: hoppy session ale.

Drank one of these last night right here in Portland! Looks great, with a 2 finger head and lots of bubbly lacing. Smells awesome as well, lots of hops off the nose, but not as fruity or citrusy as other (higher ABV) IPAs. Mouthfeel is a bit lacking, not as complex as I'm used to from an IPA but this is designed as a sessionable beer and is certainly not as aggressively hoppy as some of my favorites. Taste is great, not too bitter and cleaner than your average IPA while still retaining a hoppy character. A bit expensive for my budget, but I may come back to it again in the future. A good, sessionable IPA from a local brewery

Growler fill rating:

Balanced classic hop profile. Citrusy and floral, with a clean flavour and nice depth of flavour. A little simplistic, but enjoyable and drinkable fare I'd like to revisit in finer grain.

Grabbed a bomber while passing through Denver. What a nice easy-drinking session beer. Hazy with a big head and lacing, kind of looks like a wit. The hops are bright and fruity without getting sweet and juicy. There's a mashup of pineapple, guava, and tangerine with a spicy finish. Dry and very drinkable. I wish I'd bought another bottle.

The liquid is a hazy, light gold/dark straw color. Small but lasting head which leaves some chunky streaks on the glass.

The smell leans to the hop, but overall, a well-balanced beer. The pale malt has a creamy touch while the hop is citrusy.

The body is thinner than I expected and the carbonation very high. The flavor isn't as complex as the smell. It is also black pepper bitter with little malt base. Drinkable but not exceptional.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a bright yellow color and a cloudy / hazy consistency. There was a small amount of foamy head that didn't last particularly long. Excellent lacing.

S: A sweet, alluring aroma of hops, citrus, light malt, and pine.

T: Tasted of several different citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon, a little orange), a tinge of malt (not too much), a fair amount of pine, lots of hops, and some tropical fruits. A well-balanced flavor, with the hops and fruit elements playing well together. Light, sweet, and luscious.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a crisp finish. Light-bodied.

O: One of the easier to drink IPAs you'll find out there. Well made and drinkable.
